fantasy premier league double gameweeks – update on the blank GW27 and potential DGW25

Fantasy Premier League

After the Capital 1 cup finalists have been setlled it’s time to update our series of articles on the blank GW27 which will host the damage and look at the potential double gameweek

fantasy premier league double gameweeks – update on the blank GW27 and potential DGW25

I’ll try and be brief and simple.  In very basic terms the Capital One Cup final will take place in GW27 and the games involving the finalists will be postponed.  The postponed games will be:

Liverpool v Everton

Newcastle v Man City

There really are only 3 potential windows for the postponed games due to the European schedule as UEFA wont allow clashes even if there are no teams involved.  Those windows are GW25, GW34 and GW37.  It’s hard to say what will happen but I imagine the first window available in GW25 has to be attractive.  If any of the 4 teams above are involved in a FA Cup replays after this weekends 4th round games that may cause problems though with GW25.  Villa v Man City, Liverpool v West Ham and Carlisle v Everton are FA Cup 4th round games.  Newcastle are already out.

I expect the postponed games dates will be confirmed after the weekends FA Cup games.

Personally I will be waiting until the postponed dates are announed before I make any transfers

If GW25 does become the double gameweek for all 4 teams then they will have the following 2 fixtures:

Man City – Leicester (h), Newcastle (a)

Everton – Stoke (a), Liverpool (a)

Liverpool – Sunderland (h) Everton (h)

Newcastle – WBA (h), Man City (h)

Personally at the moment I have Aguero and De Bruyne from Man City (De Bruyne now looks like he will be out for  a while with knee ligament damage after last night)

I also have Lukaku from Everton and Moreno from Liverpool.  That gives me 3 players assuming De Bruyne is injured.  I can then make 2 transfers before GW25 which would give me 5 for the potential double gameweek 25. Those could be Firmino and maybe another City player.  2 transfers out before GW27 would then give me 3 players from that group on the bench for the blank GW27 and a full playing compliment subject to injury and selection

If you have alot of transfers you may want to consider a GK from that group.  It’s another player who can benefit from the double but then go safely on the bench.  Newcastles GK Elliot is only £4.0m and could be an option.  Man City isn’t an easy fixture but the save points could add up in those 2 games even without a clean sheet

Here’s my 2 previous articles.  There will at least be 1 more before the GW24 deadline.
