fantasy premier league – FFGeek picks for GW28

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my picks for fantasy premier league GW28.  Remember its just a team for this gameweek.  No other fixtures are taken into account.    The point of the GW28 picks post is just to help you with any last minute transfer decisions.  If you think that someone has a good chance of points in GW28 over someone else than maybe that will swing the argument.  The teams not meant to be affordable either by the way.  Its the best for GW28 despite cost.  Although it ignores GW29 and includes people who may not play in those games , I’ll add whether the team situation just to help your decision.  There’s more stats and details on players in my “ones to watch” articles

McGregor

Blank in GW29.  DGW31

Only Arsenal Chelsea and Man City have a better defence at home.  Newcastle have lost their way going forward since the sale of Cabaye to PSG although the return of Remy has helped correct that.  McGregor is a safe pick within the Hull line up to benefit from the clean sheet

LLoris

No blank GW29

With a number of uncertainties over the defensive lineup of Tottenham after the sapping win over Dnipro Lloris looks a safe choice to benefit from the great potential for a clean sheet.  Tottenham don’t have a great defensive home record but this is as much about the current impotence of the Cardiff attack.  They’ve only scored 7 goals away in 13 games and have blanked 8 times.  They also haven’t scored in 3 of their last 4 away games.

Coleman

Blank GW29

Everton have one of the best records at home for goals conceded and restricting the opposition to 1 goal.  It hasn’t been particularly translated into clean sheets though with 5.  The loss of Jagielka wont help.  West Ham though have one of the worst records away from home having scored 11 in 13 games away and have blanked 6 times.  Carroll will strengthen them but it’s still a good clean sheet prospect.  If no clean sheet Coleman has excellent attacking potential for goals and assists

Ivanovic

No blank GW29

Any time you’re playing Fulham has to involve a good chance of a clean sheet.  Too add to it new Fulham signing striker Mitroglou wont be fit.  Chelsea are the best defence in the league at the moment.  Fulham’s attack at home though  isn’t one of the worst.  Theyve only blanked once but this is about a very strong defence.  Terry is probably my best pick and should play given he wont play in the Internationals but Ivanovic to me is the more certain pick and still has strong attacking potential.

Mertesacker

Blank GW29

Arsenal only have 3 clean sheets away but despite a couple of high profile hammerings they’ve only conceded more than 1 goal 3 times away.  There’s no doubting the strength of their defence though and Mertescaker is a constant threat at set pieces.  Stoke have a reasonable attacking record at home but WBA, Cardiff and Norwich have come away with clean sheets.

Chico

Blank GW29

Palace are another side to target for a clean sheet.  Despite not having a great home clean sheet and goals conceded record Swansea have kept clean sheets in their last 2 home games.  Chico is also the main set piece goal scoring threat.  Palace have only scored 5 goals away from home and have never scored more than 1.

Vlaar

Blank GW29

Villa don’t have the greatest home defensive record but they are a better team with Vlaar starting.  Norwich though have a terrible away record.  They’ve only scored 8 goals in 13 games and have a trio of misfiring strikers in RVW, Hooper and Elmander

Hazard

No blank GW29

He may have only returned once in the last 6 games but that was a sublime hat trick against Newcastle.  He has the ability to score big against any side in the lower reaches of the table.  Fulham are the ideal target.  They’ve conceded 28 goals in 13 games and only have 2 clean sheets at home.  The new manager talks about improving the defence but theres only so much you can do with the basic ingredients Fulham have defensively.  Only possible negative is potential rotation after a midweek trip to Turkey.

Ozil

Blank GW29

After an horrendous game all round against Bayern and being rested against Sunderland there has to be some kick back.  Surely those events must motivate you to come back and prove the world class player that you are.  Thats why I’m backing Ozil this week despite his poor recent record.  Stoke at home have been recently solid but Arsenal after the Sunderland win will be in confident mood to win.

Paulino

No blank in GW29

2 goals in his last 4 games and maybe the man with the most shots in the box per minute is finally coming right.  Cardiff have a terrible away defence conceding 26 goals in 13 games and conceding more than 1 goal on 9 occaisons

Oscar

No blank GW29

Been carrying a bit of an injury but having only made the briefest of substitute appearances midweek in the Champions League he surely has to be looking at starting.  His positioning and eye for a goal makes him the ideal player to face Fulham.  Form couldn’t be much worse with no returns in his last 7 but if youre ever going to turn things around this is it.  As I said for Hazard, Fulham have conceded 28 goals in 13 games and only have 2 clean sheets at home.  The new manager talks about improving the defence but theres only so much you can do with the basic ingredients Fulham have defensively.

Mirallas

Blank GW29

He may not be the most consistent returner but home to the lower placed teams is exactly when he does come alive. 3 goals and 3 returning games in his last 6 isn’t exactly the recipe for  total comfort going forward but when he does return he has the potential to do so big.  Has looked constantly threatening at the moment either on the flank where he will now be or behind the striker.  West Ham do have a good defensive record away from home but they can be pierced as Liverpool and Man Utd have shown scoring 4 and 3.

Adebayor

No Blank GW29

2 brilliant goals in the Europa League.  Add that to 8 goals and 4 assists in 11 games since getting back into the team when Sherwood took over.  Cardiff have a terrible away defence conceding 26 goals in 13 games and conceding more than 1 goal on 9 occaisions

Sturridge

Blank GW29.  DGW31

Home or away Sturridge scores.  He’s returned in his last 7 games scoring 9 and assisting 4.  Unbelieveable.  The Southampton high line defence may suit his uncanny brilliant ability to run onto through balls.  The Southampton defence is strong at home but the opposition is irrelevant to Liverpool at the moment.

Suarez

Blank GW29.  DGW31

By comparison to Sturridge he’s having a nightmare.  However he’s still returned in 8 of his last 9 games and scored 4 goals and 6 assists in that time.  I think Sturridge is probably more suited to the Southanpton defence if they play as usual but Suarez has the class to produce against any opposition
