Fantasy premier league – FFGeek picks for GW21

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my picks for fantasy premier league GW21.  Remember its just a team for this gameweek.  No other fixtures are taken into account. However this becomes more relevant as we get nearer to the January wildcard as you can undo any transfers you do now with an early wildcard.  The point of the GW21 picks post is just to help you with any last minute transfer decisions.  If you think that someone has a good chance of points in GW21 over someone else than maybe that will swing the argument. The comments are fairly brief as alot of the players are covered by my “ones to watch” articles so excuse that

Marshall

Anytime you’re playing West Ham its a good time for gambling on a clean sheet.  Its only 3 clean sheets in 10 home games for Cardiff but West Ham are a team devoid of any real striker and have blanked in half their 10 away games.  Andy Carroll maybe on the bench but whether he will get the chance to influence the game after being out for so long is debatable.  Caulker is the premium goal scoring option at £5.2m and Turner the cheapie at £4.2m

De Gea

Hard to bet on Man Utd at home at the moment.  Its 4 games at home since there’s been a clean sheet.  Swansea full of injuries in the midfield maybe a good prospect though.  Utd have had 3 clean sheets at home and Swansea have blanked 5 times away which gives Utd a chance for a clean sheet

Coleman

The best attacking defender in the team with the best defence after Arsenal and Chelsea.  Home to Norwich is a no brainer.  They’ve blanked in 4 of their 10 away games and have a multitude of midfield injuries

Walker

Home to Palace is another one of those fixtures that you have to back yourself for a clean sheet.  Sherwood may have increased their attacking ability but the facts are that Palace have blanked in half their 10 away games and in Chamakh and Jerome hardly have a fearsome front pair.  What makes Walker such a frustrating defender is what makes him such a great fantasy premier league asset.  He spends more time in the opposition penalty area and lets the CDMs cover the FBs.  Dawson and Chiriches are the cheaper options at £5.2m and £5.1m respectively

Mertescaker

The best attacking and bonus point option in the best defence.  Villa are a disaster at home and have blanked in 6 out of 10 of their home games.  Benteke continues to misfire.  The rest of the defence is fairly evenly priced,  Go for Koscielny for bonus potential or Sagna for assist potential

Shaw

Southampton have seemingly lost that potential to keep clean sheets but with the full defence back look to have the potential to keep clean sheets at home again.  WBA have struggled at times away from home and its a case as to whether the new manager boost gives them a chance to overcome that

Terry

The Chelsea defence has really turned a corner 3 clean sheets in the last 4 and 2 consecutive away clean sheets.  Terry is the best option for attacking and bonus points. Hull have had a few high scoring games at home but 7/10 have either been blanks or single goals scored.  A great chance for another Chelsea clean sheet.

Dempsey

A big gamble.  Back in fantasy premier league on a 2 month loan from the MLS.  With Fulham in 2011/12 he got 17 goals and 12 assists and in 2010/11 it was 12 goals and 3 assists.   Should play behind Berba.  16 goals conceded away for Sunderland in 10 games although they have tightened things up recently.  Has the credentials.  Just whether he starts and can walk straight back into his old form

Januzaj

Getting better and better each week.   Has started 5 of the last 6 fantasy premier league fixtures.  A goal and 2 assists in those games.  Swansea have a reasonable record away but such is Januzaj’s confidence I can see returns here.

Ozil

With Walcott out for the season a swap to Ozil who is now fit is the natural change.   Utd, Spurs and Everton won easily here.  City lost but should have scored a hatful.  Arsenal should continue the trend with Ozil at the creative heart of it.

Mirrallas

Not a pick for the faint hearted and his inconsistency has even got to Martinez as his guaranteed gametime has now slipped away.  Has the ability to score big though.  If there’s any team you’re going to do this against Norwich is a good bet.  7 goals conceded against City, 5 against Liverpool and 4 against Arsenal.  Look for goals for Everton in this fixture

Silva

My number 1 midfielder.  4 goals 6 assists in 11 games with returns in 8 of those games including  4 returns in the last 5.  Newcastle with Debuchy, Coloccini out and Santon a doubt look ripe for the continuing City goal fest

Lukaku

9 goals 4 assists in 16 games for Everton is some feat.  Pretty good  consistency for Everton with 10 returns in those 16 games.    After returning in 5 consecutive games has gone off the boil with only a goal in his last 4 and 2 returns in his last 5 games.  As I said for Mirallas, Norwich is the perfect tonic for being a little off form. 7 goals conceded against City, 5 against Liverpool and 4 against Arsenal.  Look for goals for Everton in this fixture

Adebayor

3 goals 2 assists in the 4 games since he got back into the side as part of Sherwoods new attacking philosophy.  Has alot of  talent and it was only 2 seasons ago that he scored 17 goals and 12 assists.  Palace have certainly improved defensively away from home but I’m banking on goals here given the attacking ideals of the manager

Suarez

19 goals and 12 assists in 15 games which is incredible.  Returned in 12 of those 15 games including 4 of the last 5.  Stoke are generally strong at home and held City to 0-0.  However Chelsea although they lost 3-2 showed that goals can be scored there.  Suarez also respects no fixtures and only Chelsea and Hull have kept him from looking ordinary this year.
