fantasy premier league – FFGeek picks for GW22

Fantasy Premier League

Sorry to sound like a broken record but time pressure again means a lite version of the fantasy premier league picks for GW22

fantasy premier league – FFGeek picks for GW22

Here’s my picks for fantasy premier league GW22.  Remember its just a team for this gameweek.  No other fixtures are taken into account. However this becomes more relevant as we are in the January wildcard as you can undo any transfers you do now with a wildcard if not already used.  The point of the GW22 picks post is just to help you with any last minute transfer decisions.  If you think that someone has a good chance of points in GW22 over someone else than maybe that will swing the argument.  The teams not meant to be affordable either by the way.  Its the best for GW22 despite cost

Here’s the team with the briefest of comments:

Boruc

Sunderland have scored 1 goal in their last 3 home games.  Southampton have struggled to keep clean sheets away from home with only 2 but they’ve a good chance here in my view

Ruddy

Only 3 teams have scored more than once at Carrow road.  Hull have only scored more than 1 away once and have blanked 5 times.  It will be interesting to see if both Jelavic and Long start for Hull.  This may add to the missing fire power although its alot to ask to click straight away

Coleman

The Everton defence finally got it’s 9th clean sheet after conceding in 6 consecutive games.  However Coleman’s attack provides a prospect of points whatever the result

Mertesacker

The best bonus and attacking option in the best defence.  At home to  Fulham who to be fair have scored from time to time away but I think Arsenal will be fair to solid.

Ward

Haven’t had a clean sheet in the last 2 at home but before that it was 3 in a row.  Stoke have scored 1 in their last 5 away.  Pulis’s team will be fired up for a clean sheet.  Ward also plays in midfield so there’s an extra chance for attacking points.

Johnson

Another game when you think surely they can keep a clean sheet. However they’ve never conceded more than 1 and their last home game to Hull was at least a clean sheet.  Johnson has good attacking potential not that you would know it from the 1 clean sheet to date.  Villa have their moments away from home and their counter attacking style suits away from home.  However they also blank alot too.

Hazard

Returned in 4 of his last 5 games and in great form.  9 goals and 8 assists for the season.  United have improved defensively away from home with 2 clean sheets away in the last 3.  They still have games where they concede 2 at Hull though.

Puncheon

How can he be picked after that penalty.  Still plays in a very advanced position and shoots on sight.  1 goal in his last 5 isn’t great but has the potential in any game.  Stoke have conceded 12 in their last 4 away games

Ozil

Just gone off the boil a little and its now 3 games without returning.  However, back from injury and sure to start.  Will also have a big say in set pieces and will also have pens with Arteta injured.Home to Fulham is a good chance to rectify the slight downturn.  He’s returned in 4/6 home games.  Fulham have conceded 11 in their last 3 away games

Gerrard

Incredibly consistent.   If you strip out the first 5 games when he didn’t return he’s returned in over 10/12 games since then.   Returned from injury with a pen after against Stoke.  Returned in 4 of last 5 games.  Has pens and dominates set pieces.  Villa away are pretty hit and miss.  I think it will be a siege though.

Silva

A very consistent with a good share of set pieces.  The best overall underlying shooting and creating chances stats as well of any midfielder.  returned in 3 of his last 5 games.  Cardiff have defended well against the better teams.  However it’s been a backs to the wall siege.  If OGS want’s to play in an attacking way anything will be possible.

Giroud

Returned in his last 3.  A streaky scorer who could be on to a roll.  Fulham away from home are hopeless.  I mean 6 goals at Hull.  An Adam Johnson hat trick.  Hangeland won’t fix things

Suarez

He’s returned in all of the 7 home games played and scored 14 goals and 5 assists.  The only top 4 challenging teams that Villa have played away have been Arsenal and Chelsea in the opening games of the season where they best Arsenal 3-1 and performed well in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea. As I said for Gerrard Villa away are pretty hiot and miss.  Can be good , can be awful

Negredo

I think Negredo will start but he is vulnerable to a 60 minute type substitution.  However even with that he’s returned in every home game he’s started.  Cardiff have conceded 2 and 3 in their last 2 games away to Arsenal and Liverpool.  Although they performed admirably in both games  they were under siege .
