fantasy premier league form – 10 things we learnt from DGW34

Fantasy Premier League, Gameweek analysis

Here’s a review of the double gameweek 34 so far and some of the significant things coming out of it.  It excludes anything I mentioned in my “Geek detective” articles

fantasy premier league form – 10 things we learnt from DGW34

1.  Eriksen

Another player let loose by Sherwoods appointment.  It may not be his best position, that surely is as a number 10.   His tracking back makes Ben Arfa look good but you can’t deny the results.  Its 4 goals and 3 assists in 4 games.  Thats an incredible 44 points.  Thats Suarez country.  Add to that his set piece involvement plus good fixtures and you’ve got someone who looks an essential purchase.  Oh and it’s Fulham at home next.

Fulham (H)
Stoke City (A)
West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)

2.  Sterling as a number 10

Sterling was excellent as a number 10 in the diamond in the Man City game constantly finding space.  He also scored the opener.  At £5.7m he’s a bargain for that position.  If you’re holding him you may want to think twice before trading him in for a double gameweeker.

Norwich (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Newcastle (H)

3.  The Chelsea defence

It’s now 4 clean sheets in the last 6 games for Chelsea.  With good fixtures to the end of the season it will take a brave man to sell Champions league or not.  There are 3 clean potential sheets still out of the 4 games left

Sunderland (H)
Liverpool (A)
Norwich (H)
Cardiff City (A)

4. Lukaku

Another captaincy favourite and another let down.  Its only part 1 of the double gameweek so he has a chance to redeem himself.  However he did have a number of chances so all is not lost.

Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Hull City (A)

5.  Stoke clean sheets

Its 2 consecutive clean sheets for Stoke at home.  They haven’t conceded more than 1 goal at home in 6 games since Liverpool put 5 past them

Good fixtures home and away to the end of the season as well

Cardiff City (A)
Tottenham (H)
Fulham (H)
West Brom (A)

6.  Lambert and Lallana

Lambert had a number of chances and Lallana created a number of chances in the game.  After 2 consecutive 4 goal home wins a loss to Cardiff was a bit of a let down to say the least.  There’s no doubt they may have missed the pace of Rodriguez.  However the stats above do suggest that they maybe worth another chance.  Fixtures are a bit mixed though

Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)

7.  The Crystal Palace defence

Tony Pulis continues to work his magic defensively.  With DGW34 half way through it maybe a bit late to jump on the bandwagon.  Unfortunately the fixtures are against them so you may have missed the chance if you haven’t invested

Here’s the remaining fixtures:

West Ham (A)
Man City (H)
Liverpool (H)
Fulham (A)

8.  Demba Ba

At £7.4m another Chelsea bargain?   First start since I don’t know when but a good performance after his winner in the PSG game.  Its still 3 strikers into 1 so it comes with a decent amount of risk.  However the value is good as well as the fixtures.

Sunderland (H)
Liverpool (A)
Norwich (H)
Cardiff City (A)

9.  The Everton defence

After 6 games without a clean sheet Everton have now got 3 clean sheets in the last 4.  However the fixtures are tough to the end of the season and if you’ve doubled up it maybe a rough ride to the end of the season.

Man Utd (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Hull City (A)

10.  Rodallega

It’s 2 games 2 goals for the £5.0m former Wigan man.  Fulham for the first time have a sniff at being safe from relegation and will be fighting for their lives to stay up.  The fixtures are a bit mixed which isn’t helpful.  However, Rodallega looks certain to hold his place and offers another option if you want to invest in your midfield.  He has a reasonable pedigree having scored 9 and 10 goals in a season for Wigan.

Fixtures to the end of the season:

Tottenham (A)
Hull City (H)
Stoke City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
