Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s our fantasy premier league forward player rankings GW2 article . There’s a range of stats plus commentary on each and their first fixtures

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE FORWARD PLAYER RANKINGS GW2

First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.

Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player plus their next 6 fixtures.

I’ve also done an article on Zaha replacements which looks at midfield players £7.5m and under. There’s also a defensive player ranking and midfield player ranking articles

The Schedule

 Lukaku

The Man Utd CF started the season with a bang with 2 goals against a fairly inept West Ham side.  Great underlying stats, great fixtures, huge ownership and he should also be a big captain favourite. Add to that pens and you’ve got someone who will be very scary not to own

Swansea (A)
Leicester (H)
Stoke (A)
Everton (H)
Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Jesus

Played as a pair upfront with Aguero and really did everything but score.  An encouraging performance with great underlying stats.  Like everyone in the City team and those to varying degrees in the top 7 will be rotated.  A Pep favourite which will help his gametime

Everton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Liverpool (H)
Watford (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)

Aguero

The best outcome for GW1 from an Aguero owners perspective would have been him playing as a lone CF with Jesus stuck out right.  A pair with Jesus was the 2nd best option and obviously better than the bench.  What happens in fixtures against higher placed sides remains to be seen.  A goal certainly didn’t do any harm but he was overshadowed in the chances situation by Jesus which needs monitoring.  Unsure at this stage whether he would have pens.

Everton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Liverpool (H)
Watford (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)

Kane

The Spurs striker may have come away with nothing but he did hit the post and had a goal disallowed.  The underlying stats of 4 shots in the box and 1 in the 6 yard box were also encouraging.  Has pens and too dangerous with some plum home games coming up not to have him in the team for me

Chelsea (H)
Burnley (H)
Everton (A)
Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)
Huddersfield (A)

Firmino

The Liverpool CF scored with a pen plus a clever dinked assist against Watford giving him a great 12 point start.  Underlying stats were ok but not fantastic.  Pens are a big boost with 2 speedsters in the team like Salah and Mane.  Could do with Coutinho staying for creativity though

Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (H)
Man City (A)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
Newcastle (A)

Lacazette

The new Arsenal CF scored with his first touch, pretty much,  and looked threatening the whole game, posting good shooting stats.  The 1 worry is Giroud who just keeps scoring.  If Giroud doesn’t take his place and it seems unlikely he will as Giroud just doesn’t stretch teams enough.  However, the worry then  is that Lacazette will move wide as he did against Leicester when Giroud comes on as sub.  I’m not sure how feasible that will be if and when Sanchez is back and it could mean he just is subbed.  Should have pens when on the pitch given his record at Lyon which is a big bonus.

Stoke (A)
Liverpool (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Chelsea (A)
West Brom (H)
Brighton (H)

Gabbiadini

The Southampton disease of lots of shots with no end product is firmly embedded in Gabbiadini as he did everything but hit the target along with his colleagues.  It’s all about fixtures though which are incredible.  The worry is that at what point does Austin take over because he can finish.  He will undoubtedly eat into his minutes once the clock hits 70 minutes in the best scenario.

West Ham (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Watford (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Man Utd (H)
Stoke (A)

Vardy

A tap in from a counter attack and a header from a set piece both in the 6 yard box shoes how deadly the Leicester CF can be.  Shakespeare going back to basics and turning them back into a direct counter attacking team suits him down to the ground.  The only negative is fixtures but that’s not the case at least this week.

Brighton (H)
Man Utd (A)
Chelsea (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Liverpool (H)
Bournemouth (A)

Defoe

Unfair to judge him on 26 minutes but should start this week at home to Watford.  A bit of a difficult choice until there is some certainty over gametime and minutes but he is an experienced premier league finisher who should have pens.  2 tough fixtures after this weekend

Watford (H)
Man City (H)
Arsenal (A)
Brighton (H)
Everton (A)
Leicester (H)

Mounie

The Huddersfield CF got some introduction to the premier league with 2 goals in his first game.  It was pretty much 2 shots 2 goals but he certainly looks impressive in the air which will be a boost for set piece man Mooy as well.  Still has to be some reservations due to an adjustment period but the fixtures are good if you’re willing to gamble.

Newcastle (H)
Southampton (H)
West Ham (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (A)
Spurs (H)
