The injury

The £6.0m Bournemouth forward was carried off on a stretcher in the gameweek 7 game against Stoke.  It doesn’t look good and with 29% ownership there’s 1 million or so managers who need to make a decision on who to transfer to.   Here’s what Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe had to say.

“It doesn’t look good at this moment in time.

“He is in a brace and on crutches and is in a bit of pain — there is a bit of swelling there.

“We won’t know until we get it scanned and properly looked at, but it is worrying for us — it looks like it could be another serious knee injury.

“All I know is he took a whack to the knee, felt he was okay to carry on and then collapsed in agony, and obviously that is not a good sign.

“With joint injuries you have to be so careful and it looks like it could be a serious one. It was a huge blow for us right at the start of the game.”

So on the basis that he will be out for sometime we give some stats, notes and the next 6 fixtures on the possible replacements.

The options:

Here’s some basic stats on the options around £6.0m or less which is Wilsons price.  The prices of players are as of Sunday the 27th September.  The players are ranked in order but I’ve yet to do a fixture ease so have made some estimates on that.  The fixtures are below anyway for you to take your own view.

Category ranking

A new feature where I rank the top 3 players in each of the stats and we see who finishes the highest in most

By FPL minutes per point

  1. Ighalo
  2. Vardy
  3. Bojan

By Consistency

  1. Vardy
  2. Sakho
  3. Diouf

By Fixtures (estimated)

  1. Vardy
  2. Sakho
  3. Diouf/Bojan

By last 4 games points

  1. Vardy
  2. Ighalo
  3. Diouf

By underlying stats

  1. Vardy
  2. Gestede
  3. Sakho

Vardy is the clear leader in 5 categories.  Sakho and Diouf next with 3.  Ighalo next with 2.

Vardy

The Leicester striker has been fantastic this season and 2 goals yesterday against Arsenal continued his consistent form.  Great underlying shooting and creating chances stats as well.  Good fixtures.  The question is whether to double up on Leicester as most will have Mahrez.

Norwich (A)
Southampton (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
West Brom (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)

Ighalo

I’ve done this before the Watford game today against Palace but the Watford striker has been leading the line sensationally in this start to the season leading the line for Watford.  It’s whether you think he can keep scoring in a fairly defensive side.  Mixed fixtures

Bournemouth (A)
Arsenal (H)
Stoke (A)
West Ham (H)
Leicester (A)
Man Utd (H)

Sakho

The West Ham striker scored again against Norwich and has been a consistent returner of goals and assists.  Only 1 bonus point though which hasn’t helped the FPL points per minute

Sunderland (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Chelsea (H)
Watford (A)
Everton (H)
Spurs (A)

Diouf

The Stoke forward came on as sub after recovering from injury to score again and the underlying shooting stats are ok if nothing special.  In a side that has to attack as seemingly can’t defend.  Fixtures a little mixed although Villa away next is attractive

Aston Villa (A)
Swansea (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Southampton (A)

Bojan

The former Barcelona wonderkid will play behind Diouf and has the talent to thrive.  Reasonable start after a long injury

Aston Villa (A)
Swansea (A)
Watford (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Southampton (A)

Gestede

The former Blackburn striker has shown his phenomenal aerial ability with 3 goals this season.  The consistency stats are distorted by a number of sub appearances.  Fixtures are tough though

Stoke (H)
Chelsea (A)
Swansea (H)
Spurs (A)
Man City (H)
Everton (A)

Berahino

Again the WBA game isn’t until Monday.  Berahino isn’t so much about this season which has been  interrupted by the transfer saga.  This is about faith after 14 goals and 1 assist last season at an FPL point every 19.8 mins.  Will have pens.  Fixtures are ok

Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (A)

Murray

If ever there was a transfer to be made on last years stats it’s this one.  No goals so far but you have to remember 4 of the 5 games have been as sub.  Last season he got 7 goals and 5 assists in a phenomenal 12.4 minutes per FPL point which is a £10m FPL player type stat.  With Wilson out should be his replacement and should take pens.  Fixtures a little mixed

Watford (H)
Man City (A)
Spurs (H)
Southampton (A)
Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
