In this post I’ve done a very basic fantasy premier league calendar to show you where the blank and double gameweeks could come from this season. It something I find useful for understanding how everything works and planning for the future. There’s also a simple summary of the results. I’ll also update it as the season progresses.
Fantasy premier league – the FPL Calendar for the remainder of the season
At this moment I’m not going to concentrate on teams. It’s a bit early. Here’s the summary though. Below that will be the calendar to explain if you want to know the detail
We’ll update this as things become clearer. For example the EFL Cup finalists will be know January 25th
SUMMARY
Just for clarity a BLANK GW means some teams will have their game postponed. DGW GW means some teams will have 2 games in that gameweek
BLANK GW26 – EFL Cup finalists will have their games postponed as dates clash
BLANK GW28 – FA Cup quarter finalists will have their games postponed
DGW34 and BLANK GW34 – Likely time for some postponed games in midweek. Also FA Cup semi final weekend although postponed PL games due to this I imagine would be moved to midweek
DGW37 – Likely other time for postponed matches in midweek.
THE CALENDAR
It’s worth remembering 2 things before the dates. The basic principle is that domestic games cannot clash with European Cup competions. As European games run Tuesday to Thursday it’s difficult to postpone games to those weeks. Last season though an exception was made.
There are no replays in the FA Cup from quarter finals onwards
It’s also possible that one of the EFL finalists could get through also to the quarters and finals of the FA Cup which presumably would require a 3rd DGW. I’m unclear on this.
