fantasy premier league gameweek 13 tips – the early bandwagons and sinking ships
Remember that it’s international break week and no games until 21 November so this increases the risk of injury for any early transfers
The Bandwagons
Ozil
The £8.8m Arsenal midfielder is one of the form players of the moment and continued this with his assists and 3 bonus point performance in the draw with Spurs. Has returned in every of his last 6 games with 8 assists and 1 goal in those 6 games. Has the best creating chances stats of any player and the most assists by some distance. Minutes per FPL point of 13.0 mins and a consistency return rate (ie the % of games returning a goal or assists) is 73% is excellent. Reasonable fixtures to come. Only negative is lack of shooting stats but this hasn’t inhibited him so far.
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Lukaku
Another goal against West Ham for the £8.6m Everton forward makes it 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 2 games after the fixtures have turned for the better for Everton. Pretty good underlying stats too show it’s no fluke. Minutes per FPL point is a very good 14.1 and the consistency return rate is a respectable 50% given the difficult early fixtures. Good fixtures now though
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
Leicester (H)
Newcastle (A)
Coutinho
After a slow start of 2 returns in his first 9 games it’s now 3 goals in his last 2 games for the £8.2m Liverpool midfielder. Does this season have very good shooting stats unlike previous seasons and this gives belief that it can be sustainable. Minutes per FPL point improving to 16.2 mins. Consistency with that poor start still only 36%. Mixed fixtures to come
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
West Brom (H)
Watford (A)
Leicester (H)
Smalling
Hard to believe that the Man Utd CB is £6.7m. However 4 consecutive clean sheets are certainly going to increase the transfers and Man Utd now have more clean sheets than anyone else. This added to the fact that there’s no one in the Man Utd defence that can be certain of selection apart from Smalling. You have to go to the goalkeeper for a cheaper alternative. Has good attacking potential as well and only 1 assist under represennts this. Good fixtures to come
Watford (A)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)
Stoke (A)
Kane
A goal in the north London derby ar the weekend made it 5 in his last 3 games after a slow start with 1 goal in his first 9. However he has very good shooting stats which shows this improvement is no fluke as well as his 21 goal and 7 assist season of last year. With a minutes per FPL point of 19.2 and a consistency return rate of 33% this is about current form, history and his underlying stats rather than season returns to date. Fixtures are a little mixed but he showed last season that in form he can score against anyone
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (H)
West Brom (A)
Newcastle (H)
Southampton (A)
Norwich (H)
The sinking ships
Payet
The £8.3m West Ham midfielder has been transferred out by nearly 140k managers after it was announced he will be out for 3 months with an injury. A definite sell. Hard to say who will benefit. It could be Zarate although he is a forward. Should make midfielder Lanzini at £5.3m more secure though
Spurs (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)
Swansea (A)
Aston Villa (A)
Pelle
1 goal in his last 4 games for the £8.5m Southampton forward is going to trigger sales especially when 3 of the games were against pretty ordinary defences. However the shooting stats over the season are good. Over the last 4 they have dropped but not fallen off a cliff which gives some hope that he can return to scoring ways. However the fixtures will now turn after Stoke at home in GW13 and that could be a natural exit point
Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Spurs (H)
Arsenal (H)
Bellerin
The £5.9m Arsenal midfielder was injured prior to the Bayern UCL game and missed GW12. Interestingly the FPL site shows him as a 25% chance of being fit for GW13 wheras the excellent injury site physioroom shows him as being fit for GW13. Only the 2 Manchester clubs have more clean sheets than Arsenal and the next 4 games couldn’t be better from a clean sheet point of view
West Brom (A)
Norwich (A)
Sunderland (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Bony
No return date for the £8.4m Man City forward after his hamstring injury early into the Villa game in GW12. With Aguero back in training and likely to play at least some part in GW13 his starting days look numbered with Pellegrini seemingly favouring a lone striker system to get the best out of Aguero. Fixtures looking more mixed too.
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (H)
Stoke (A)
Swansea (H)
Arsenal (A)
Sunderland (H)
Martial
Interesting one this for the £8.0m Manchester United forward. Did get an assist in the win over WBA and was returned to leading the line. Should this continue, with the excellent fixtures coming up, it could be a profitable for the talented youngster who had an excellent record before LVG inexplicably banished him to the left flank. However the issues are that will he continue leading the line given how unpredictable LVG is and the lack of shooting stats and a general poor attacking form from United
Watford (A)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Norwich (H)
Stoke (A)
