Fantasy Premier League, Gameweek analysis

Here’s a quick fantasy premier league gameweek 18 review article where we outline a couple of sentences on the key players performance in Mondays 8 premier league games which include the Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City games and 5 others.  This will help you, especially if your player blanked,  by getting a quick assessment on how they played before deciding whether to transfer them out or not.  We also comment on each teams defensive performance.  We also add in GW19 fixtures just in case you want to refer to them.

fantasy premier league gameweek 18 review – Monday 26th December

I’m listing the players by game.  Under that will be a sentence or 2 on their performance.  It’s impossible to do every player so I’m just concentrating on a few key ones in each game

WATFORD 1 C PALACE 1

Deeney

1 goal.  Came off the bench due to an injury and scored the pen.  Otherwise little goal or assist threat

Zaha

Blanked.  Little goal or assist threat

Benteke

Blanked and missed a penalty.  Limited goal threat

Defence

Both teams had reasonably good defensive stats

ARSENAL 1 WBA 0

Sanchez

Blanked.  Notionally positioned wide left as Giroud started. Had a ton of chances none the less and how he didn’t score is beyond me

Ozil

1 assist.  An assist for the Giroud goal.  Little goal threat but provided a ton of chances for an assist

Phillips Chadli and Rondon

The Arsenal defence kept them quiet and their was little threat from either

Defences

Arsenal successfully nullified WBA.  For WBA it was like the Alamo as Arsenal lay siege to the WBA goal

BURNLEY 1 MIDDLESBORO 0

Gray

1 goal.  Scored a lucky goal due to a Valdes GK error. Little goal or assist threat generally though

Negredo

Blanked.  Little goal or assist threat

Ramirez

Blanked.  Little goal threat but did create some chances.

Defences

Both were reasonably successful at limiting chances

CHELSEA 3 BOURNEMOUTH 0

Hazard

1 goal.  Scored a penalty.  Notionally played as the striker in a front 3 but drifted around.  A major goal and assist threat

 Pedro

1 goal 1 assist.   Big goal threat in the game and constantly in an advanced position.  Unlucky to get the assist given as an assist rather than a goal.  Gametime and minutes risk continues vs Willian though when Costa back

Defences

Despite the clean sheet Bournemouth did trouble the Chelsea defence which was without the protection of the suspended Kante.  Bournemouth limited Chelsea but chances when they did come were good ones

LEICESTER 0 EVERTON 2

Slimani

Blanked.  Little goal or assist threat

Lukaku

1 goal.  Great solo goal from nothing and should have got an assist when Gueye put a sitter over the bar after Lukaku set him up.  However he made the most of limited chances that came his way

Barkley

1 assist.  That was the long punt from his penalty area for the Lukaku solo goal so make of that what you will as an assist.  Other than that provided little goal or assist threat

Defences

The Leicester defence did reasonably well in limiting chances.  The Everton defence which was a back 3 were hugely improved and gave little to Leicester

MAN UTD 3 SUNDERLAND 1

Ibrahimovic

1 goal 2 assists.  Drfited around alot but a strong goal and assist threat

Pogba

1 assist.  An unlucky return for someone who was a big goal threat in the game and often in advanced positions

Mkhitaryan

1 goal.  And what a goal it was.  Only 29 minutes played but looks like he will play in an advanced midfield position and will be a big threat.  Would like to see him start though

Defoe and Anichebe

Both blanked and neither got a sniff.

Defences

The Man Utd defence was very solid with only a Borini wonder strike defeating it.  The Sunderland defence was under constant pressure and it was just a matter of how many goals

SWANSEA 1 WEST HAM 4

Sigurdsson

Blanked.  Continued goal and assist threat.  Plus had set pieces

Llorente

1 goal.  Came on at half time as a sub.  What does the guy have to do to start although to be fair was only a limited threat

Carroll

1 goal.  Despite this was only a limited goal threat

Payet

1 assist.  Limited goal threat but ran the game and created so many chances he was again unlucky not to get a better return.

Antonio

1 goal.  Played on the right of a front 3.  Was a strong goal threat and always in an advanced position.  Goal said everything about his scoring ability

Defences

The Swansea defence was an absolute joke giving away 1  clear cut chance after another.  West Ham weren’t great either

HULL 0 MANCHESTER CITY 3

Snodgrass

Blanked.  Played virtually as a 2nd striker and although little threat did maintain an advanced position and had set piece responsibility

De Bruyne

Blanked.  Hard to believe how though as he hit the post and was a constant threat especially in creating chances.  Played in an advanced role changing positions but generally either left or right.

Sterling

2 assists.  Played in an advanced position.  Got assists through a penalty and an own goal.

Defences

Hull did ok against Man City and it definitely wasn’t a siege despite the possession.  Man City only did ok given the limited attacking ability of Hull

Thats it hope you found it useful.  If you’ve got anything to add  on the games please put it into the comments column
