As I write this I still haven’t decided my team or my transfer believe it or not so the team and transfer come at the end of this section rather than the beginning.  This shows that this week again like the last 2 could be rank changing weeks depending on the captain decision

My basic decision is around Aguero.  Should I get him in or not?

Firstly taking Kane out for Aguero is my only choice.  In theory I could probably take Vardy out if I took a hit with Firmino but I’m sticking with Vardy considering his form so thats off the table

If I bring in Aguero the positives are that as long as he starts in 60 minutes maximum gametime he could do anything against what is a woeful Sunderland defence. He may have had an inconsistent season but his ability to destroy a team is unparralled.

However If he doesn’t start and Kane gets a decent score against Norwich when he is 30% owned then my ranking will take a drop of huge proportions.  However Kane has as much risk of not starting as Aguero does in my mind considering some of the managers statements.

The other negative to bringing him in is that I don’t get the chance to bring in a Spurs defender in an ideal fixture at home to Norwich.  That would give me a full compliment bench in a very high rotation time.  Alternatively I could fix the Firmino issue but home to Leicester with Sunderland next he doesn’t need any immediate action.  That does take away the Aguero transfer though for 2 weeks as I would then need to sell Firmino after the Sunderland game.

So thats where I am.  I’ve said before that FPL is about 50/50 decisions and this is certainly this is one.  Who knows what the correct one will be. Unfortunately I have got most of my 50/50s wrong this season

Ok so I’ve decided not to go for Aguero and take out Targett for Walker of Spurs.  That in itself comes with risk as Trippier could easily step in for this game.  However thats the case with all the Spurs defence.  Alderweireld is probably the safest but is £0.6m dearer so not keen on spending that.  I don’t think I will be able to watch the games results today.  I’ll just face them when they’re over

Team selection

In defence I now have 4 players going into 3 positions each week with Danny Simpson as a cheap defender of last resort.

I used my clean sheet tips article to decide the order of defence.  That clearly showed Moreno well behind the other 3.  Losing Skrtel and with Vardy fit was the additional nail in Morenos coffin.  Thats even before I get to him also potentially having his attacking instincts curbed by Mahrez’s presence.  So the defence was obvious.

Midfield is never any choice with Surman as my cheap 5th (although he did get an assist last week).  The front 3 are ever present.

The Captain selection

In the end it came down to a gametime decision between the 3 of Kane Lukaku and Mahrez.  I was worried about Kane rotation so didn’t go for him.  It then came between Mahrez and Lukaku and Mahrez edged it.  You may wonder why I put Ozil as vice.  If you saw the Newcastle Villa game you would have seen the water issue on the pitch in the rain.  There are weather warnings in the North so I just went for Ozil at Southampton in the slight chance that this could be an issue.  I haven’t researched it to any great degree,  I just saw the predictions on the BBC news while avoiding the ads on Sky Sports News having my breakfast so please don’t take it as gospel.  It is only a vice captain issue after all.

Well good luck today in what could be a mammoth gameweek for FPL
