fantasy premier league gameweek 20 review – Mondays games

MANCHESTER CITY 2 BURNLEY 1

A game distorted by the early sending off of Fernandino for Man City

Aguero

1 goal.  Incredible finish for the goal.  Strong goal threat considering he came on at half time in a team with 10 men.  No assist threat

De Bruyne

Blanked.  Played mostly in a centrally advanced position. Some goal threat but surprisingly little assist threat

Sterling

1 assist.  Generally very advanced on the left.  Good assist threat but no goal threat

Gray

Blanked.  Little goal or assist threat

Defences

Both defences were effective in a game of few chances

SUNDERLAND 2 LIVERPOOL 2

Sturridge

1 goal.  Big goal threat.  Instinctive clinical finish.  No assist threat

Firmino

Blanked.  Played wide left in a front 3.  Too wide left for my liking but a good goal threat none the less.  Some assist threat

Lallana

Blanked.  Played in the 2 of 4-1-2-3.  Little goal threat with only 1 shot from outside the area threatening.  Reasonable assist threat

Defoe

2 penalties.  Good goal threat. Missed a great 1 on 1 with the GK.  Very little assist threat

Defences

The Liverpool defence did reasonably well.  Sunderland were under alot of pressure

WEST HAM 0 MAN UTD 2

Another game distorted by the early sending off of West Ham’s Feghouli

Ibrahimovic

1 goal.  Fortuitous offside goal but easily the biggest Man Utd goal threat

Pogba

Blanked.  1 great opportunity courtesy of Rashford but otherwise limited threat. Played as a left sided CM so a bit too deep alot of the time

Mkhitarayan

Blanked. Played advanced midfield on the left often tucking in.  No goal threat but some assist threat

Antonio

Blanked.  Started as a striker then had to move right when the early sending off came.  Missed a 1 on 1 with the GK and a good headed opportunity. Generally the biggest West Ham goal threat but a difficult day when West Ham only had 10 men

Payet

Blanked.  A couple of shots from distance but surprisingly no assist threat even though centrally positioned.  Subbed around 70 minutes

Carroll

Blanked.  Late sub.  Presumably on the bench to avoid any injury risk in fixture congestion

Defences

Distorted by the sending off.  Man Utd’s numerical advantage meant that they were under little pressure and  West Ham went into a very defensive mode which limited Man Utd’s chances

WBA 3 HULL 1

Rondon

1 assist.  reasonable goal threat and assist threat

Chadli

Blanked.  Subbed off early again.  Little goal and no assist threat

Phillips

2 assists.  Played an adavnced right  midfield role.  Made of the most of limited assist opportunities through 2 corner kicks which he was responsible for.  Also one header that was saved by Marshall

Snodgrass

1 goal.  Played as a support striker.  Good goal threat and massive assist threat.  Shame his colleagues couldn’t finish.  All set pieces.

Defences

Hull suffered from great 2nd half finishing although didn’t concede that many chances.  The WBA defence if anything was more shaky

 MIDDLESBOROUGH 0 LEICESTER 0

Ramirez

Blanked.  Played in the advanced left midfield position.  Limited goal and assist threat although 1 golden chance to win it at the end.

Negredo

Blanked.  Limited goal and assist threat

Defences

Both sides defended well

EVERTON 3  SOUTHAMPTON 0

Lukaku

1 goal 1 assist.  Big goal threat with a number of good chances.  Assist resulted from his saved header close in.

Barkley

Blanked.  Played advanced centrally.  Some goal threat with 1 reasonable chance.  Good assist threat but no chances converted

Rodriguez

Blanked.  Played as a central striker.  Good goal threat.  1 great chance after a nice turn on the edge of the area.  1 great assist chance to Redmond.  Should be pleased with the performance

Defences

Neither side defended well although Southampton were by far the worst of the 2.
