As I said above there’s a table where I’ve ranked the players but there’s a load of stats to help you make your own decision.  There’s also a key below the table to explain the stats and then some narrative on the player plus the next 6 fixtures.

Kane

2 goal and 2 assists in his demolition of the Chelsea defence in the league on New Years day .  That takes it to 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games.   Excellent consistency as well.   Over the season his underlying shooting and creating chances stats aren’t great but they have improved  for the last 4 games. Next 3 fixtures aren’t too bad either.

Next 6 fixtures:

Crystal Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)

Diego Costa

A tap in against Spurs keeps him as the most consistent returner of goals or assists.  Despite criticism of returns the attraction is the focal point of the strong attacking team that is Chelsea.  Only abandoned by 1 of the top FPL managers I follow.  Good underlying creating chances and shooting stats

Newcastle (H)
Swansea (A)
Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)

Austin

Add the FA Cup blank to 2 blanks after 4 goals and an assist in 3 games and you have someone under the microscope of FPL managers.   However he has kept his shooting stats at a high level which does give us some comfort that things will return.   Fixtures a bit mixed but his old club Burnley next is a  risky time to sell

Burnley (A)
Man Utd (H)
Stoke (A)
Southampton (H)
Sunderland (A)
Hull (A)

Rooney

The idea of even considering a striker who plays in midfield seems ridiculous but Rooney has been making light of the position with his ability to get into the box.  However 2 consecutive blanks have got some FPL managers twitchy.  Unfortunately Rooney has no underlying stats to give comfort although that has been a pattern over the years.  Although the Southampton game could be difficult the fixtures after that couldn’t be much better

Southampton (H)
QPR (A)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)

RVP

Again after the Southampton game this is a fixture play rather than form and overall season consistency.  You’re banking on good fixtures and him being the focal point of the attack plus pens will get returns.  Certainly the season underlying stats are very ordinary to say the least although they have improved recently.  Also has pens.

Southampton (H)
QPR (A)
Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)

Ings

This is about 2 great fixtures next in QPR and Palace and a goal and an assist in his last 2 games.  It’s not about season form or consistency or underlying stats which are pretty ordinary to say the least.

QPR (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Chelsea (A)

Berahino

After being left out of the team by Irvine, Berahino started against Gateshead in the FA Cup and scored 4 goals.  To be fair to Irvine Berahino had blanked in 5 consecutive starts after his good form.  It’s hard to say whether he will be favoured or sold by Pulis given that Pulis has favoured Chamkh type players in the past rather than small nimble players like Berahino.  So you’ve got the form and gametime risk against some good fixtures and in particular Hull next at home.  Should have pens as an added attraction.  No underlying stats.

Hull (H)
Everton (A)
Spurs (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Sunderland (A)

Giroud

Over the 6 games the fixtures aren’t too bad with 2 tricky games away to City and Spurs.  However the home games where Arsenal can be so deadly are very good and that alone could be enough to give Giroud good returns.  Refreshed after his 3 match suspension and injury he should be raring to go.  Has been involved in a number of sub appearances which haven’t helped his consistency but when on the pitch few players have been so deadly.

Stoke (H)
Man City (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Spurs (A)
Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Pelle

3 blanks in the last 3 games and only 2 goals in the last 9 show his decline in form and returns.  The question is whether this is a permanent downturn or is this related to the very difficult fixtures Southampton have gone through.  He has shown his ability in the early season games where he got 6 goals and 4 assists in his first 11 games.  Have  teams worked him out or is it just the fixtures?  There has been no material downturn in his shooting stats which is a very good sign.  After Man Utd away the fixtures get better.

Man Utd (A)
Newcastle (A)
Swansea (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H)

Jovetic

No one apart from his team mate Aguero has performed better when on the pitch than Jovetic.  His goal and assist showed what he can do against Sunderland.  However with Aguero and Dzeko coming back he will move back into rotation country.  To make it worse the success of Silva centrally may even make Pellegrini stay with a single striker.  You can also make the case that Dzeko’s central focus also suits Aguero’s game better.  So there’s no doubting his quality it’s just gametime risk.  Fixtures in the short term are also tricky

Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
