There seem to be a few of us, including myself, debating Stokes Moses or Walters as a cheap midfielder to gain some cash for Eriksen in the DGW28. Here we look at the merits and stats of the 2 players to help you make a decision

Walters at £5.3m has started 10 of the last 12. Moses at £5.2m has started the last 5 so both seem fairly secure.
The fixtures
I’ve rated them as 8th best over the next 6 and 2nd best over the next 3. Here are the fixtures

Set piece/Pens and position
The big advantage of Moses is that he seems to have penalty duties ironically taken off Walters judging by the fact that he took the pen against Aston Villa when Walters was on the pitch. Walters is more central than Moses even when not playing striker

Over the season Walters definitely has the best stats although his GW23 hat trick does distort the stats particularly the form table. In terms of that recent form Walters has returned in 2 of the last 4 and Moses 1 (a pen) of the last 4.
Underlying stats
I’ll look at 2 crucial stats of shots in the box and chances created others.
Over the season Walters has slightly better shots in the box stats and far better creating chances stats
In the last 4 games Walters has been far stronger on shots in the box although that does include his stint as striker. Walters is miles ahead on chances created.
Overall thoughts
So Walters has the better returns and also plays more centrally and recently has had the better of the shots in the box stats. In terms of stats he is the winner and I generally favour shots in the box as a stat that correlates with goals more compared to chances created for assists. Especially among the lower placed teams. However Moses has the big advantage of pens. Walters isn’t the most glamourous of players though and a hard one to pick. I’m not sure myself at this stage but will have to make a decision tonight as Chadli’s price is going to fall. So you’ll see tonight who I’m picking if it helps your decision
