fantasy premier league gameweek 3 – some early thoughts on the FFGeek team

GW2

Here’s my points scored

GW2 score 51 points (average 44)  OR 220k (red arrow of 87k)

So not a great week but having seen my top 10 FPL managers article it could be alot worse given some of the scores there.

Out of the regular starters in the 11 Firmino, Lukaku, Willian, Tadic, Bailly, Stephens and Foster have all returned in 1 of the 2 games.

De Bruyne, Kane and Ward Prowse have yet to.

Kane I have no issue with given his shot stats and the fact that he’s hit the post twice.  He’s looking like an early captain favourite as well home to Burnley in GW3 so he’s going no where.

Ward Prowse was benched with new boy Lamina replacing him rather than Davis.  For reasons I’ll go into in the next section I won’t be moving him out yet.

Lastly there’s De Bruyne who’s blanked twice and not had the positive underlying picture that Kane has.  I do have some sympathy for him in that the sending off v Everton saw a restructuring of the team which meant he sat deeper.  Even before that the difference between him and Silva was negligible and Silva is £2m cheaper.

However he is away to Bournemouth which is a good fixture so he doesn’t scream being taken out.  However he doesn’t appear to be value for what you’re getting at the moment so he’s certainly on the departure watch list.

Gameweek 2 key performances

Defensive points through Alonso, Bailly and Maguire show the value of attacking defensive players although I wouldn’t put Bailly in that category.

Man Utd were also firmly in focus with Bailly, Pogba and Mkhitaryan all scoring big.  They certainly looked transformed and still have reasonable fixtures going forward.  If you’re thinking of one of the United midfielders see our article comparing the 2

3 cheap midfielders in Mooy, Richarlison and Jese all gave us further options to think of in midfield.

Chicharito also scored twice to cement his place as a cheap striker option.

Here’s how the team could lineup with no transfers

fantasy premier league gameweek 3

Firmino has a tough fixture and Ward Prowse is a gametime risk but Carroll as a sub doesn’t have too bad a fixture as an alternative.

So I have no desperate need to make a transfer in my mind.  In fact I’d like to carry over a transfer as readers who come to the site will already know I’m obsessed with GW4.

Here’s the fixtures for GW4

So who’s your captain in this scenario?  If it’s not someone from Arsenal who have the fixture then it’s Lukaku at Stoke or a City player home to Liverpool.  Given Liverpools ability over the top clubs last season and Stoke being no pushover then there’s no great alternative to Arsenal at home.

However the counter argument is that there’s no one at Arsenal in form.  Lacazette still has something to prove and Sanchez has yet to play a minute of premier league football.  This may make Lukaku the captain favourite.

However with no desperate need to make a transfer then I’m thinking I’ll roll it over to give me flexibility for GW4.  I prefer to do 2 transfers at a time anayway as it widens the transfer options beyond your current structure

So unless I make an early transfer for some unknown reason there will be a full article on Friday
