Ok so here’s our fantasy premier league gameweek 30 tips article. If you haven’t seen this before then , this article includes the scores of the top 10 FPL managers as well as the team selection points. These are just not the current top 10 but 10 managers who’ve been successful over the last 3 years. The 10 managers have never finished outside the top 10k in the last 3 years (30 times playing FPL). The article is all about giving you another view point other than mine. Also the managers I have picked have been consistent showing they can adapt to different seasons.
fantasy premier league gameweek 30 tips – analysing 10 top FPL managers
Just remember that GW30 has blanks for a number of teams and the Arsenal WBA game may also be postponed if Arsenal win their replay on Tuesday.
The 10 managers FPL stats
I’ll give the FPL managers stats, their GW29 scores and then outline their teams and structure. The stats of the top 10 managers are incredible.
1. The overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 1,464
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000
4. 5 of the 10 managers have finished in the top 100
GW29 average score and rank
The average score of the managers in GW29 was 83 compared to the average of 53. Thats 30 points and 57% above the average. The high score of the 10 was 93. The low score was 74. A low spread of 19. All 10 had green arrows
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers took a big upwards step to 172k from 229k in the last gameweek. An increase of 57k. The best rank is 4k and the lowest 405k.
If you’re interested my score was an ok one of 75. Still a reasonble increase in rank to 358k from 425k. An increase of rank of 67k. I remain ahead of 3 of the top 10 managers. My team value is a disaster though at £102.1m. My aim at the moment would be the top 100k which is around 55 points away. So still no need to panic as thats not unobtainable.

It’s hard to do a comparison from the defensive side as alot of the FPL managers don’t have Alderweireld for example but 8/10 have Spurs defence in their team so still get the clean sheet points if not the attacking returns.
From an attacking standpoint everyone over 50% in the top 10k ranked teams is represented in the top 10 FPL managers teams apart from Payet which is related to GW30 and GW35 where he has blanks. Whether they are there by choice due to their form or by ownership default coverage is a pointless argument, the fact is they are.
In terms of team structure then if you follw that as a rule your attacking team will have to have Mahrez, Ozil, Vardy, Kane and Aguero. That leaves 2 spaces for differentials or 3 if you have a 5 man midfield. The 10 FPL managers have filled that with Siggy, YYT as fixture based choices and Sanchez due to world class quality.
This is also why I speak about defence as a differentialas the pool of players and even the pool of teams is far more diverse. This is especially so if you have the funds for attacking defenders. There’s a great example below with the leading manager’s team where his 3 man defence got him 24 points without a single clean sheet.
GW29 Captain Choice
Aguero was the captain in 10/10 teams
Hits
None of the managers took a hit.
How many have used their wildcard/chips
No one has used their 2nd wildcard as yet. 7 of the 10 has used their all out attack chip. 1 was used in this gameweek very successfully
Transfers
All 10 FPL managers made a transfer
Transfers out
Payet was transferred out 7 times
Moreno was transferred out twice
Transfers in
Yaya Toure and Sigurdsson were transferred in 5 times
Kompany was transferred in twice
The most common transfers
Payet to YYT 5 times
Payet to Siggy twice
When were the transfers done?
There were only 15 transfers in total
1 was done on Thursday 3 March
8 were done on Friday 4 March
6 were done on Saturday 5 March
Formation
All used 3-4-3 apart from the 1 manager using All Out Attack
Team structure
Typically the GK was a cheap GK with McCarthy/Hennessey as a reserve although 3 now are using an elite GK of Hart and LLoris
In the main 1 or 2 defenders from the group of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs were in the team.
The blanks have now increased the amount of 5th mids and now 7 are using 5 proper mids
More and more players over £6.0m are outside the teams of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs.
Focus on 2 managers teams
First we show our leading managers teams. This shows the value of attacking defenders. No clean sheets for the 3 defenders but 24 points as they all score. You obviously need the team value to do this and his is £107.5m. Again a very template team with his attacking line up exactly the same as the highest 10k overall rank players except for Payet who he took out this week. Defence has been one of the differences.
Here’s our 2nd ranked team who played their all out attack chip at just the right time.
A combined top 10 managers team
Here’s a team that represents the average top 10 FPL managers teams at their average value of around £106m which as you’ll see is well above my value
