At the end of the commentary on players I’ve put either optimistic or pessimistic. Thats a statement to owners holding those players on that performance only. It doesn’t take into account future gametime prospects or fixtures coming up or previous form. It’s only a comment on that performance and how it should affect their view of that player

WBA 0 Liverpool 1

Here’s the lineups from the excellent site football-lineups

Firmino

1 goal.  90 minutes.  Was the total star of this performance by some distance.  Huge goal and assist threat.  Deserved the goal which was a neat header from a Lucas flick on of a Milner set piece.  Also went close early on and set up Origi to score although Firmino’s arm was offside apparently.  Should have got an assist when both Coutinho and Milner especially missed the target from his crosses.  If this is him “tired” then I’d love to see him on full throttle.  Optimistic

Coutinho

Blanked 90 mins.  Was heavily involved and also paraded his shots threatening the stadium car park.  Neutral

Origi

Blanked.  81 minutes.  1 shot from the edge of the area well over and the disallowed goal mentioned above.  Generally pretty quiet.  Pessimistic

Defences

Liverpool defended well with only Phillips looking a threat.  WBA did an ok job was about as good as you can describe it but the score should have been more

Man Utd 2 Chelsea 0

Ibrahimovic

Blanked.  8 mins as a sub.

Hazard

Blanked.  90 mins.  Did nothing. Totally locked down by a man marking Herrera.  Pessimistic.  Will this game be a blueprint?

Costa

Blanked.  90 mins.  Did nothing.  More interested in his running battle with Rojo

Pedro

Blanked.  90 mins.  The only attacking player to emerge with any credit.  Had a few good chances.  Optimistic

Defences

It was a defensive masterclass from Man Utd.  Chelsea also were unlucky and were punished with 2 of only a few chances

I’ve not reviewed any Man Utd players as there’s so much rotation it’s difficult to predict someone who will play 2 games in DGW34

Middlesborough 1 Arsenal 2

Negredo

1 goal.  90 mins.  Good karate kick goal.  Had a couple of other chances as well. A good performance. Optimistic

Sanchez

1 goal.  89 mins.  Fantastic free kick goal.  Had a chance of the volley straight to the GK and also put Ozil through who didn’t score. That was probably the summary of the attacking output.  Optimistic

Ozil

1 goal.  89 mins.  Scored the winner by being in the box.  Was far further forward than against Palace and that was the benefit.  Had a chance to go past the GK when put through by Sanchez but didn’t manage it.  That was it for attacking output though.  Optimistic

Defences

The 3 man backline wasn’t a defensive success and Middlesborough can count themselves unlucky to lose.  Middlesboro contained Arsenal well I thought
