fantasy premier league gameweek 33 tips – the bandwagons and sinking ships

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league gameweek 33 tips article where we outline the bandwagons and sinking ships so far in gameweek 33. As it’s a double gameweek I’ve given an extra player to analyse and it’s the 6 most transferred in and out players so far in the gameweek. Just a reminder that these are purely driven by stats from the FPL site and not my view of them. I’ve also changed the format with a table of stats for easy comparison followed by the ususal narrative and next 6 fixtures

So the new format sees a table of stats for easy reference of the various players with narrative and the fixtures below the table to the end of the season. The table also has a key to understand the headings.

Key:

G/A – Goals/Assists
Mins per FPL points – How many minutes it takes to earn an FPL point. The lower the better
Consistency – The % of games that a goal or assist is earned.
10+ pt % – the % of games that 10 FPL points or more are scored.
Last 6 pts/retns – Points in last 6 games and returning games/total games. Clean sheets included for defenders
Blank/DGWs – The blank and double gameweeks ahead. BGW means they have no fixture in GW35.

The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek

Lukaku

The obvious captain candidate for DGW33 in absence of any other choice in reality.  To be fair though he has been consistent this season and his underlying shooting stats are ok if not fantastic.

Barkley

Double gameweeks do strange things and double double gameweeks even more so.  In what other circumstances would someone who hasn’t got a goal or assist in his last 6 games be the 2nd most transferred in player.  To make it even worse he has no underlying shooting or creating chances stats over the season or in recent games to give you any hope that it’s just a blip.  If that wasn’t enough he’s also playing in a withdrawn role rather than his earlier number 10 position behind Lukaku.  Although to be fair as someone pointed out that may change when Barry is back.   On the positive side he is probably the only supposedly attacking midfielder who is guaranteed gametime

Gameweek 36 Bournemouth (H)
Gameweek 37 Leicester (A)

Gameweek 38 Norwich (H)

Coutinho

Good form since coming back from injury if very inconsistent over the season.  The injury risk to Firmino makes him the obvious attacking midfield choice for Liverpool.  Very good underlying shooting stats even if at times he’s obsessed with shooting from the centre circle

Gameweek 33 Stoke (H)
Gameweek 34 Bournemouth (A)
Gameweek 34 Everton (H)
Gameweek 35 Newcastle (H)
Gameweek 36 Swansea (A)
Gameweek 37 Watford (H)
Gameweek 37 Chelsea (H)
Gameweek 38 West Brom (A)

De Bruyne

A goal and some pretty good stats marked his 56 minute return from injury.  Only Ozil has better creating chances stats over the season.  His minutes this week against PSG in the UCL should be interesting

Gameweek 33 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 34 Chelsea (A)
Gameweek 34 Newcastle (A)
Gameweek 35 Stoke (H)
Gameweek 36 Southampton (A)
Gameweek 37 Arsenal (H)
Gameweek 38 Swansea (A)

Sanchez

In only his 2nd run of good form after a pretty inconsistent season.  Arguably the best shooting stats of any midfielder.  Possible captain poll leader in DGW34 and ability to score big makes him a dangerous player not to own

Gameweek 33 West Ham (A)
Gameweek 34 Crystal Palace (H)
Gameweek 34 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 35 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 36 Norwich (H)
Gameweek 37 Man City (A)
Gameweek 38 Aston Villa (H)

Bellerin

Arsenal have 2 great fixtures in DGW34 and Bellerin is the form defender.  Arsenal need to win every game to have a title chance and hopefully that should limit rotation.  Despite recent attacking returns his underlying creating chances stats are pretty ordinary

Gameweek 33 West Ham (A)
Gameweek 34 Crystal Palace (H)
Gameweek 34 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 35 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 36 Norwich (H)
Gameweek 37 Man City (A)
Gameweek 38 Aston Villa (H)

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Firmino

Been in great form and good underlying stats to back it up.  This is about injury risk and he looks a doubt for the weekend.

Gameweek 33 Stoke (H)
Gameweek 34 Bournemouth (A)
Gameweek 34 Everton (H)
Gameweek 35 Newcastle (H)
Gameweek 36 Swansea (A)
Gameweek 37 Watford (H)
Gameweek 37 Chelsea (H)
Gameweek 38 West Brom (A)

Vardy

Great stats over the season and very consistent.  Form has dropped off a little and certainly the underlying stats definitely have

Gameweek 33 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 34 West Ham (H)
Gameweek 35 Swansea (H)
Gameweek 36 Man Utd (A)
Gameweek 37 Everton (H)
Gameweek 38 Chelsea (A)

Ozil

Over the season he’s been very consistent and over the season has the best creating chances stats.  However he hasn’t returned a goal or assist in the last 4 games and his underlying creating chances stats have definitely dipped.

Gameweek 33 West Ham (A)
Gameweek 34 Crystal Palace (H)
Gameweek 34 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 35 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 36 Norwich (H)
Gameweek 37 Man City (A)
Gameweek 38 Aston Villa (H)

Willian

Reasonable recent form but no DGWs until GW37 and was probably either just bought or held for the Villa game.

Gameweek 33 Swansea (A)
Gameweek 34 Man City (H)
Gameweek 35 Bournemouth (A)
Gameweek 36 Spurs (H)
Gameweek 37 Sunderland (A)
Gameweek 37 Liverpool (A)
Gameweek 38 Leicester (H)

Kane

If ever there was evidence of how double gameweeks effect transfers this is it.  At least Vardy has some recent form questions.  No such questions with Kane.  He has it all.  Good season returns, great underlying stats and great recent form.

Gameweek 33 Man Utd (H)
Gameweek 34 Stoke (A)
Gameweek 35 West Brom (H)
Gameweek 36 Chelsea (A)
Gameweek 37 Southampton (H)
Gameweek 38 Newcastle (A)

Butland

He’s actually the most sold.  Injured to the end of the season.
