fantasy premier league gameweek 37 tips – analysing 10 top FPL managers

geek computer

It was the week of the 3 Ds for the top 10 FPL managers.  Deeney, Darlow and Defoe meaning 9 of 10 had green arrows.

Ok so here’s the introduction for our fantasy premier league gameweek 37 tips article. If you haven’t seen this before, this article includes the scores of the top 10 FPL managers as well as the team selection points. These are just not the current top 10 but 10 managers who’ve been successful over the last 3 years. The 10 managers have never finished outside the top 10k in the last 3 years (30 times playing FPL). The article is all about giving you another view point other than mine. Also the managers I have picked have been consistent showing they can adapt to different seasons.

fantasy premier league gameweek 37 tips – analysing 10 top FPL managers

The 10 managers FPL stats

The stats of the top 10 managers are incredible.

1. The overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 1,464

2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)

3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000

4. 5 of the 10 managers have finished in the top 100

GW36 average score and rank

The average score of the managers in GW36 was 53 compared to the average of 38. Thats 15 points and 39% above the average. The high score of the 10 was 70. The low score was 38. A very wide spread of 32 for the average. 9 of 10 had green arrows

The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers took a big step forwards to 33k from 43k in the last gameweek. A improvement in rank of 10k. The best rank is 1.6k and the lowest 101k. It  looks likely that 6 will get into the top 10k for the end of the season.

If you’re interested my score of 32 with was well below the gameweek average  and well below the average of the top 10 FPL managers average. Probably the most disappointing week of the season.  A big worsening of rank though to to 130k from 154k  in the last gameweek. A worsening of rank of 24k. I remain ahead of none of the top 10 managers and 24 points behind 1 of them. My team value is a disaster too at £101.7m. My aim at the moment is to get under 100k which is around 24 points away. This now looks difficult and is so disappointing after 2k last season

The average team value

The average team value of the 10 top managers slipped slightly from £105.1m to £105.0m

Comparison with the top 10k overall rank

Here’s a comparison between the players that make up the top 10 FPL managers and the top 10k overall ranked teams in FPL. The information is from the excellent site FPL discovery. We’ll show you the info and then talk through some thoughts on the meaning. Obviously with the 10 top managers the percentages are always going to be a factor of 10. % at or greater than 100% could mean that 1 team has more than 1 player in that defensive team

Player top 10 FPL managers %  Top 10k ovr   Overall
Defence
Arsenal Def 120% + 80% + 85% ish
Spurs def 10% + 40% + 70 % ish
Liv Def 80% 40% + 45% ish
Man Utd Def 70% + 40% + 50% ish
Midfield & fwds
Sanchez 100% 75%  20%
Payet 90% 72% 32%
Mahrez 20% 64% 64%
Iwobi 30% 29% 7 %

Kane 80% 74%  46%
 Sturridge 10% 22%  7%
 Defoe 30% 19%  8%

Ok the battle lines of ownership are clearly drawn

The top 10 FPL managers I follow have backed the Arsenal Liverpool Man Utd Newcastle  and Everton defence plus Sanchez and Firmino far more the the top 10k.

The top 10k have stuck with the Spurs defence. Mahrez and Kane

GW36 Captain Choice

Sanchez was the captain in 9/10 teams

1 team captained Deeney

Hits

5 of the managers took a 4 point hit.

How many have used their wildcard/chips

8/10 of the 10 have used their all out attack chip.

10/10 have used their 2nd wildcard.  2 used it in this gameweek

8/10 have used their Bench Boost

2/10 have used their triple captain

Transfers

This ignores the 2 wildcards used as it’s too difficult to track all the ins and outs

Transfers out

Mitrovic was transferred out 4 times

De Bruyne and Sakho were transferred out twice

No one else was transferred out more than once

Transfers in

Deeney, Payet and Creswell were transferred in twice

No one else was transferred in more than once

Formation

8 FPL managers played 3-4-3

1 played 3-5-2

1 played 4-3-3

Focus on 2 players team

Here’s the 2 teams that used their wildcard in anticipation of presumably bench boost in GW36

Thinking of something similar. Depending on your objectives. If your primary goal is to win a ML (currenlty my aim as well); this doesn’t look like a bizzarre idea. He has BB and I have TC left. My current rank is around 23 K.

yes mate that’s my goal, I am 2nd in one and 3rd in another. I have triple captain to use this week and wanted 11 DGW players but puts me -16, the guys in front of me haven’t got any chips or WC’s left and they wont have more than 6 DGW players without going minus also…

I took a -16 in gw 34 and got 166. Happy to take hits again and that was with martial and lukaku in my side.

What would you do? I have £1.9m in the bank and 1 free transfer. Playing triple captain this week. Some options are:
    1. Just replace Sako with Smalling – no hit needed and still have a midfield of KDB, Lingard, Sanchez & Payet.
    2. change Sakho to Valencia and Alli to Willian. This would mean a 4 point hit. Adds two DGW players, but rotation risk with Valencia (he has played last 3 games). Also a midfield selection dilema as Ling & Payet are DGW and Sanchez & KDB premium players.
    3. The big gamble – an 8 point hit; Sakho to Valencia; Alli to Willian and KDB for Hazard.
    Any thoughts?

Oh well, gone for Hazard & Cresswell and a 4 point hit.

I think that’s a good move. If you’re going for a -4 you want a player that’s pretyy nailed on for both games – my suggestions would have been Reid, Kone, PVA if want a similar price for Sakho or Creswell/Smalling if you got more funds.

        Good luck!

was thinking that myself as a bit of a gamble, he was quality last night and looks to be putting himself in the shop window or cementing his place for the euro’s!

Thoughts on swapping out Dier (Spurs) for van Annholt (Sunderland)?

Also, I have Milner and Coutinho with game time worry for both (particularly), what about replacing Coutinho with Hazard?

Need a Chelsea cover for the DGW.
    Whom should I go with?

    A. Hazard
    B. Azpilicueta
    C. Costa

    Choose one.
    Please help.

Sanchez out for Hazard? ( With a hit )
    What do you say, guys?

City and Villa looks too good for me to sell Sanchez. I will probably take a hit to have them both.

Sanchez out, Hazard in this week then Hazard out, Sanchez straight back in again for me next week!

I have a feeling that Sanchez will do something good against Man City, lol.
But that’s what I am gonna do now. Take out Sanchez for Hazard and bring Sanchez back for Aston Villa… Thanks for the help. 🙂
I have no other option than selling Sanchez If I am to bring in Hazard. Already have taken -4 hit to take out Sakho and Bellerin for Smalling and Moreno. Have Payet, Mahrez, Sanchez, Lennon, Coutinho in mid and I don’t want to take a total of -12 hit in this GW. -8 is too much, in my opinion.

My team currently. Would anyone suggest any changes? I have 1m in the bank.

    Mignolet
    Moreno, Smalling, Cresswell
    Payet, Hazard, Coutinho, Sanchez
    Lukaku, Carroll, Costa

I have to choose two players from the following and leave two on the bench:

    Firmino vs WAT & CHE
    Moreno vs WAT & CHE
    Sanchez vs MCI
    Kane vs SOU

I feel Liverpool players may be rotated so it may be a single gw for Firmino and Moreno, but only Klopp knows for sure. Thoughts?

    Hi Guys

Thoughts on my team? I’m top of my mini leagues but only 28 points clear in the one with money on the table 😉

Payet for Ozil is one im decided on and have contemplated Kane, Rose, Rashford out and Martial, Carroll, Creswell.

However unsure whether it’s worth the 12 point hit – think my main rival has a bench boost however his side is abit injury ravaged. thoughts on if a 12 point hit is worthwhile or better ways of using an 8/12 point hit?

    Cheers

I am thinking taking a 8 point hit and losing Couthino
But then would have DeBuryne and Sanchez in my team with one of them getting the TC.

    THoughts?
