fantasy premier league gameweek 38 – FFGeek picks

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my picks for fantasy premier league gameweek 38.

Here’s the picks:

GW38FFGPICKS

Mannone

3 clean sheets in the last 6 home games for the Sunderland GK and only 5 goals conceded is pretty good defensive form.  Not to mention back to back clean sheets in the double gameweek just gone.  With the most bonus points of any GK and second in saves then he’s a reasonable bet even without the clean sheet.  Swansea have a reasonable record away from home with 10 goals scored in 6 games and Bony in good form.  However over the season it’s not so rosy.   They have blanked 8 times away from home in 18 games.

Speroni

Tony Pulis has not only sorted out Palace’s defence at Selhurst.  They are now a force away from home as well.  They’ve only conceded 4 goals away from home in the last 6 away games.  Thats the same as Chelsea and incredibly only Man Utd have conceded less away from home in that time.  Fulham haven’t performed that badly at home in recent games scoring 8 in their last 6 home games.  They’ve only blanked once at home in 18 games.  However with Rodallega doubtful the striking options are either unproven or barely fit if it’s Mitroglou.  Theyre already relegated so it remains to be seen what there motivation is like.

Ivanovic

8 clean sheets and only 15 goals conceded easily makes Chelsea the best away defence in the league.  Ivanovic has had a slightly disappointing year with only 3 goals but he certainly gets the chances and he is quite capable of scoring here.  Cardiff’s home attacking form is pretty poor with only 7 goals scored in their last 6 home games.  Only 4 sides have scored less.  Chelsea have a great chance of a clean sheet here

Koscielny

Arsenals away defence is nothing to write home about.  In the last 6 away games only Fulham and Norwich have conceded more.  However only Crystal Palace and Hull have scored less than Norwich’s 6 goals in 6 games at home.  Over the season no one has scored less goals at home than Norwich. Koscielny has scored 2 goals as has Mertescaker but is considerably cheaper.  Only risk is a pre cup final resting but that applies all over the defence

Zabaleta

Showed again midweek his excellent marauding runs down the flank gaining an assist for his trouble.  Only Stoke and Chelsea have conceded less goals in the last 6 home games than Citys 4.  West Ham have a mid table form attack with 9 goals scored in away games.  Over the season though they’ve blanked 8 times in 18 games.  It’s hard to see big Sam doing anything other tha parking the bus which will surely help a clean sheet

Coleman

Only Skrtel has scored more goals than Colemans 6 this season.  He’s been a revelation.  Everton have only conceded 5 goals in their last 6 away games which is one of the better defensive form records.  Over the season only 4 teams have more away clean sheets than Evertons 6.  A full strength defence also beckons.  Hull’s mind is totally on the cup final as their last 2 poor performances have shown.  They have got a reasonable attacking form record though at home.

Naughton

Surprisingly Spurs have conceded only 5 goals in their last 6 home games.  Aston Villa without Benteke are not the attacking side they were.  Their last 6 away games have only seen 2 goals scored.  The worst away attacking form in the division

Gerrard

The title is effectively gone unless City lose and goal difference will play no part.  However anything is possible in this game against a hapless Newcastle side.  Only 4 teams have conceded more goals away than Newcastle in the last 6 games and they have looked shambolic at times.  With nothing to play for anything is possible in the last home game for Liverpool.  There’s every chance that the keystone kops defending could result in a penalty giving Gerrard returns.

2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games and 34 points shows his form.  He’s also been an incredibly consistent returner.

Eriksen

2 games without a return but its still 40 FPL points and 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games shows the recent form.  Add to that brilliant set piece delivery and poor opposition and you have everything you want.  Only Arsenal Norwich and Fulham have conceded more away from home in the last 6 games than Villa.

Puncheon

3 games without a return shouldn’t overshadow his 4 goals and an assist in his 3 games before that for this shoot on sight attacking midfielder.  Only Cardiff have conceded more at home in the last 6 games than Fulham’s 11 goals.

Yaya Toure

Incredible 20 goal and 8 assist season including a 17 point DGW37 which didn’t require any pen or set piece returns.  He will have pens with Aguero off the field though.  That could be possible if Aguero starts as a sub.  West Ham don’t have a bad away defensive form record with 9 goals conceded in their last 6 games.  Only 1 clean sheet in their last 6 away games though shows the decline in the latter part of the season.  They will park the bus though but it’s hard to see City losing it here.

Ozil

Norwich have an excellent home record over the season with 8 clean sheets only bettered by Arsenal Man City and Chelsea.  They have continued this in recent form with only 5 goals conceded in the last 6 home games.  However now effectively relegated it will be interesting to see if they open up.  I’ve chosen Ozil as I’m unsure if Ramsey will be risked with nothing to play for.  Ozil’s set piece delivery and freshness is a good route to returns

Sturridge

Fresh from scoring in his starting  return like Gerrard anything is possible against a Newcastle side who’ve gone missing since Cabaye was sold in January.  It was his first return in 5 games but lets not forget this is someone who has scored and assisted in close to 80% of his games over the season.

As I said for Gerrard, only 4 teams have conceded more goals away than Newcastle in the last 6 games and they have looked shambolic at times.

Dzeko

Although Aguero is fit there’s has to be some doubt whether he will start.  Therefore I’ve gone for Dzeko who’s recent form has been remarkable with 5 goals in his last 3 games.  As I said for YYT, West Ham don’t have a bad away defensive form record with 9 goals conceded in their last 6 games.  Only 1 clean sheet in their last 6 away games though shows the decline in the latter part of the season.

Suarez

Unquestionably the player of the season for me and certainly the most consistent returner with well over 80% of his games returning a goal or assist.  Only 2 goals and 2 assists (27 points) in his last 5 games has seen a slowdown but he can explode at any time.

Thats it.  Good luck for GW38
