FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GAMEWEEK 4 – THE FFGEEK TEAM
You may have read my early thoughts on the FFGeek team article for GW4. I’m not going to excessively repeat myself in this article.
GW3 POINTS
Firstly here’s the points scored from last week
GW3 score 43 points (average 43) OR 316k (red arrow of 96k)
a 316k rank and a drop of 96k is painful but not a disaster at this stage
TRANSFERS
I’ve rolled over my additional transfer this week to just use the 1.
Ward Prowse
That transfer was Ward Prowse out who had to go after playing 25 minutes and 19 minutes in the last 2 games. The transfer in was the leader of my budget midfield article in Robbie Brady of Burnley. It was hard decision. I really wanted to put in Brighton’s Knockaert who has some really good underlying stats but in the end I succumbed to my own analysis. Brady is a mainly assisted based player and has some set piece responsibility. I prefer goal scorers which Knockaert appears more of but I stuck with Brady. It does give me an issue in team selection as you’ll see later but again I though he was the best man to replace JWP on a pound for pound basis.
Look whats coming over the hill
The reason why it was a similar price transfer was not only structure but as I sit here I’m not using my other transfer. That mean unlike virtually everyone else I’m holding on to Kevin De Bruyne this week. In fact if I hadn’t of been £0.1m short I might have done Willian to Antonio. The reason I’ve held off is to give me 2 transfers to deal with problems that could end up on my doorstep next week. Those problems are Willian who looks like he could end up on the bench this week for Hazard and Stephens who could lose his place to new signing Hoedt and even more likely to Van Dijk when he’s fit. So I’m going to face it next week when I see who is the most urgent fix.
Also lining up as a problem is Davies but the way Rose is going he may end up a season keeper. Carroll also could be a problem with Sanches being loaned in by Swansea.
What to do with Kevin
The other side of it is the urgency around De Bruyne. His likely replacement will be one of Alli, Mane/Salah or Mkhitaryan. Now Alli is away to Everton and I’ve got Kane already. Liverpool have got Man City and I already have Firmino. Mkhitaryan has a slightly better fixture at Stoke but I’ve got Lukaku as my captain so I’m already heavily invested there. Rushing De Bruyne out to transfer in one of those now except next week didn’t seem desperate enough to lose the flexibility for next week.
As an aside this week had been set up as Sanchez or Lacazette week but who knows what’s happening with Sanchez and I just can’t take out Firmino for Lacazette after last week. Especially as putting another Liverpool player in wasn’t possible.
Getting back to De Bruyne. His exit will be next week and again I’ll take any price drops coming. Alli is the most likely replacement. You can’t have a £9.9m player who isn’t an advanced midfielder and telling the world he’s a defensive midfielder so he doesn’t need to score or assist. Come on. It’s all made worse by the fact that he’s sharing set pieces with Silva. However he did create 4 chances last week so he’s not a total write off. I don’t doubt he needs to go just next week when I know what fire to put out first with his cash.
LINEUP
The lineup was a nightmare. Any one of Brady, Davies or Willian could have ended up on the bench. In the end I went with Willian as Hazard’s fitness could very well end up with him on the bench or even if he isn’t just seeing 55 minutes or so. I think Pedro should have the edge as Willian and Hazard are a bit too similar. He could come on anyway if Stephens loses his place.
