fantasy premier league gameweek 7 – the early bandwagons and sinking ships

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s the FPL  bandwagons and sinking ships coming into GW7.  These are the 5 most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  By the way I get the odd comment which implies that I pick these players.  This isn’t the case it’s purely the most transferred in and out players so far on the FPL site.

The bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek in the order of the most transfers first

Pelle

Continued his great form against QPR with a goal and the maximum bonus.  He’s got 4 goals and an assist in his first 6 games and a 67% return rate.  He’s also returned a goal or assist in his last 4 games.  It’s no fluke either, his underlying shooting and creating chances stats are fantastic.  Excellent fixtures after the Spurs game as well.

Next 6 fixtures:

Spurs (A)
Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)
Hull (A)
Leicester (H)
Aston Villa (A)

Ulloa

Despite a blank at Palace and a pretty quiet game the transfers keep rolling in.  1 of a number of cheapie options to help you invest in your midfield.  5 goals in 6 games and a 75% return rate is a pretty good start to the premier league especially given the opposition.  Had a good if not great Championship scoring record with Brighton.  Underlying stats are also ok.  The Palace game was a worry though.  After the WBA demolition of Burnley home to them in next looks a good time to buy.  The fixtures are generally excellent.

Burnley (H)
Newcastle (A)
Swansea (A)
West Brom (H)
Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)

Dzeko

Unbelievably good 2 goal performance away at Hull.  A very streaky player who looks like he either can’t miss or couldn’t hit a barn door on any given day.  The Hull gm,e was his first return in 5 games.  Excellent shooting stats but he doesn’t really contribute assists which is a bit of a limitation.  Good price though.  The 2 risks are Pellegrini going for only 1 striker.  This tends to be against the better sides away and the next 6 should avoid this.  The other risk is the return of Jovetic potentially next week.  However Dzeko suits a partnership with Aguero and Jovetic more than they suit each other as they both tend to drift back.

Aston Villa (A)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)

Di Maria

Probably the natural replacement for Ramsey at the moment.  Played well although didn’t return against West Ham.  Thats after 2 goals and 2 assists in the prior 2 games.  So now a 50% return rate.  Mainly an assist based player and tends to sit deep although his ability to run and find space going forward seems to negate that.  A world class player in a team forced to attack due to defensive issues. Fixtures aren’t easy though with Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal in the next 6.  Just creeping over the 30% ownership threshold which I use to make players a default purchase unless theres a reason not to.

Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)

Sterling

With nearly 50% ownership and 3 goals and an assist in his first 6 it’s hard to imagine that he can still appear in these articles.  Didn’t return against Everton and was playing on the left rather than a CAM but was still the star player.  The next 4 fixtures couldn’t be better though and if Sturridge is back soon an extra target for his assists couldn’t do any harm.  It also could bring him back as the tip of the diamond  behind the striking pair.  Very good underlying shooting and creating chances stats.

West Brom (H)
QPR (A)
Hull (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  They are in the order of most transfers

Rooney

A 3 match suspension for his straight red beckons and the selling is gathering some pace.  Hard to justify holding someone of that price.

Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)

Ramsey

Sustituted off with a hamstring injury on the weekend with no return date he’s also the subject of a huge number of sales.  Has a poor injury history and last year took forever to come back from injury.  These 2 transfers are mopre than 3 times any others by the way.

Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Sunderland (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)

Naismith

After scoring in 3 consecutive games to start the season he has now blanked in 3 including being rested in GW5.  No great under;ying stats but has been in a good position behind Lukaku.  Good fixtures after the Man Utd game although you could even include this as a good attacking fixture at the moment.

Man Utd (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Ham (H)

Vlaar

An injury and 2 consecutive 3 goal hammerings are a good reason to sell even for the world cup star.  Apparently though he’s available this week to return.  Also selling before they play Man City in their current form is probably the best time to do so

Man City (H)
Everton (A)
QPR (A)
Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)

Mata

A bit of a strange time to sell when Rooney has been suspended and Mata is the natural replacement in the number 10 role.  2 goals in 5 starts really isn’t the worst form in the world and he has shown an ability to get into the box and score.  Very little underlying stats to back that up though and he’s not even really creating chances as you’f expect.  As I said before fixtures aren’t great with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City in the next 6.

Everton (H)
West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)
