Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league team selection for gameweek 7.  It’s just a team for gameweek 7, No other fixtures are taken into account it’s just for gameweek 7.  Whatever transfer you are planning on there’s nothing like the prospect of a potential immediate boost in the first game they play in.  This team just for GW7 could sway you in your final transfer decision

Firstly here’s the team.  I’ve put some narrative against each player but I’ve been brief given that most will be in my “ones to watch” articles.  Remember I’m not trying to fit into a budget.  It’s the best players irrespective of price and the total expenditure.  It’s way way over budget but just an illustration of individual players.

Here’s the team with narrative below:

De Gea

3 home games, 3 goals conceded and 1 clean sheet.  Not that bad but the opposition could have seen better.  With Rojo in the centre and Shaw and Rafael the FBs the defence should be at it’s best apart from Rojos partners all being injured.  Everton have scored 5 goals in 3 away games although a fairly poor attacking performance against Liverpool and a trip to Russia may have blunted their attack for this game.  I’ve gone for De Gea as the best value certain starter apart from maybe Rafael.

Adrian

West Ham may have not been the strongest defensive team so far with 5 goals conceded and no clean sheets.  However if ever you’re going to get a clean sheet it’s against QPR who have only scored 1 goal away in 3 games.  Adrian is a similar price to the rest of the West Ham defence.

Kompany

Benteke maybe ready to play but it’s hard to see him start after such a long lay off.  Villa have blanked in 3 of their games so far and in 2 of their 3 home games.  While Man City have only 1 clean sheet away at Newcastle and were sloppy with individual errors against Hull in conceding twice the basics were there and clean sheets should come.  Kompany is the most reliable pick even if not particularly cheap.

Manquillo

WBA have blanked twice away in their 3 games and have only scored 1 goal.  New striker Brown has struggled and the line looks to be lead by Berahino.  Liverpool haven’t had the greatest defence by any stretch but were close to their first home clean sheet before Jagielka’s wonder strike.  Manquillo is the value option while Johnson still sidelined

N Taylor

3 away games for Newcastle and still no goals has to give Swansea a great chance of a clean sheet.  It’s also 3 home games and only 1 goal conceded and 2 clean sheets so far for Swansea.  Taylor is the value option at £4.6m

Ivanovic

The leagues premium attacking defender in Chelsea’s Ivanovic faces a strong Arsenal team but you can always bank on attacking returns making up for any lack of clean sheet potential here.  Arsenal have been great away with 6 goals scored  an no blanks.  However despite Chelsea’s defensive worries they have got 2 clean sheets at home and only conceded 2 goals.

Van Aanholt

Sunderland have conceded 3 goals and it’s one clean sheet at home which could be better.  However despite that it’s been 2 clean sheets in the last 2 games.  They seem to have found their defensive form.  Stoke have scored 4 goals in 3 games away and have yet to blank but Sunderland have to have a reasonable chance for a clean sheet.  Van Aanholt is probably the best of the attacking options.

Sterling

Sterling has probably been more consistent away than at home and has blanked twice in the 3 home games.  However despite WBA’s sudden defensive solidity especioally away from home you’ve got to bank on his overall form giving him a reasonable chance of returns

Silva

The last couple of weeks have seen Man City discovcer their attacking mojo.  Silva is the real provider in the attacking part of the field and at last returned with 2 assists against Hull.  Last time at home Villa conceded 3 goals at home to Arsenal the week after conceding 3 at Chelsea.  No Vlaar who’s injured won’t help their defence either

Di Maria

An unlucky blank against West Ham after 2 consecutive goal and assist hauls.  Evertons main defensive problems seem to have been at home and away they’ve only conceded 3 goals in 3 games with 1 clean sheet.  However a tough derby match last week as well as a trip to Russia may blunt their attacking form.

Fabregas

Sure to be at his most motivated against his old club.  2 blanks after 4 consecutive returns although all of these were assists.  A rather deeper role against Villa is the worry along with a lack of shots.  Arsenal have had one of the best defences away with 3 goals conceded and 1 clean sheet.  However the Chelsea attack is pretty much an unstoppable train and Fabregas is the driver

Siggy

He may have blanked 3 times after a great start but he is the central attacking force for Swansea and at home to Newcastle is defeinitely a time to have him in your team.  The Newcastle defence has conceded 10 goals in the last 4 games and 5 in the last 2 away games.  The managerial distractions can’t be helping either.

RVP

He may have scored twice in the last 2 games but he hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire.  However the class has to be there somewhere and although Everton haven’t been that bad defensively away a trip to Russia for the entire defence can’t have helped them.

Diego Costa

Do I really need to explain?  8 goals in his first 6 games and only blank was against Man City.

Aguero

4 goals in his first 6 games.  The only question is rotation risk with Jovetic back.  Last time at home Villa conceded 3 goals at home to Arsenal the week after conceding 3 at Chelsea.  No Vlaar who’s injured won’t help their defense either
