Here’s my fantasy premier league gameweek review of gameweek 5 Saturday’s games. We look at each game giving the player highlights and comments on key players.

fantasy premier league gameweek review – Saturday GW5

QPR 2 Stoke 2

  • £5.7m Crouch started and scored and assisted.  Should keep his place with good fixtures ahead.
  • Neither side looked secure in defence which is a shame as both have £4.5m defenders
  • Stoke and in particular £5.5m Moses looked excellent on the break.
  • Caulker showed his scoring ability.  Shame about the £4.9m price and clean sheet potential.
  • £5.0m Krancjar showed his free kick potential.  Mixed fixtures though

Aston Villa 0 Arsenal 3

  • The Villa defence looks more like last years version although a virus was trotted out as the reason and the absences in the team sheet
  • £9.0m Ozil shines in a central role with a goal or assist.  2 tricky fixtures next
  • Sanchez rested rather than injured.  Team sheet was apparently filled out in error.
  • Arsenal get their first clean sheet.
  • Quiet game from £9.1m Ramsey although he was still getting into the box
  • £7.1m Welbeck continues get shooting opportunities and this time scores and assists

Burnley 0 Sunderland 0

  • 3rd consecutive clean sheet for Burnley and £4.1m Duff.
  • 1st clean sheet for Sunderland but it was barely deserved.  The Newcastle/Sunderland defensive rotation despite this game looks very questionable
  • £4.9m fwd  Jutkiewicz did everything but score.  Yet to return.
  • £5.0m Arfield again had a load of shots despite 4 consecutive blanks
  • £5.9m fwd Wickham disappointing but played centrally

Newcastle 2 Hull 2

  • Only 2 clean sheets in 10 games for these 2 clubs.
  • Hull play 4-4-2 again and £4.6m Chester dropped.  The defence was terrible though
  • £7.5m Cabella and £7.0m Riverie had loads of chances.  1 assist each in 10 games both have played
  • £5.9m Cisse back from the cold to score twice.  2 goals last season and an FPL point every 25 minutes does mean caution.
  • £6.0m Jelavic 3rd goal in 5 games.  Mixed fixtures though with Cty next

Swansea 0 Southampton 1

  • £5.0m Alderweireld injured so didn’t start.  No return date
  • game distorted by the Bony red card
  • Southampton defence strong
  • £7.6m Pelle was outstanding and deserved more than an assist.
  • £7.5m Tadic quiet
  • £6.6m Siggy quiet but hard to judge with 10 men

West Ham 3 Liverpool 1

  • Poor defence again from Liverpool
  • £8.8m Sterling shines again with a goal.  4 good fixtures 2 tricky coming up.
  • £6.9m fwd Valencia outstanding despite not returning
  • Another quite game from £10.0m Balotelli despite the assist
  • £5.5m mid Downing shined and got an assist from a central role at the tip of the diamond.  Some good fixtures
