I’m not sure if you’re going through a similar decision but here’s one of my choices for fantasy premier league GW11 upcoming. I’ve looked at various stats to compare them to help make my decision.
Summary stats table
PG Rank | Name | value | Minute per FPL point 14/15 | Consistency 14/15 | % of 10pt + | Fixture ease | Last 4 games | Prev seasons MPFPL Point |
1. | Lukaku | £8.4m | 16.8 m | 4/10 40% | 2/10 20% | 1/2 | 26 pts | 21.3 min 15.5 min |
2. | Kane | £9.3m | 22.6 m | 2/10 20% | 1/10 10% | 12/12 | 26 pts | 13.5 min |
Key:
Minute per FPL points: This is how many minutes it took to get an FPL point. The lower the better
Consistency: the % of games that a player returned a goal or assist. Sub appearances are counted
10+ point %: The % of games 10 FPL points or more are scored
Fixt ease: The ease of attacking fixtures coming up. Next 6/next 3
Last 2 games FPL pts
Prev seasons MPFPL Point: Previous seasons minutes per FPL point
Lukaku
Overall stats
Lukaku’s minutes per FPL point is prettty good considering the opposition faced and just above his successful season of a couple of years ago. However he hasn’t been the most consistent and for a top forward you would at least hope to be around a 50% consistency rate. Again the opposition which you can see below has been very difficult though which mitigates that. It’s interesting though as although I can’t produce the stats he did seem to struggle when looking as a captain favourite against lower opposition. We haven’t had the chance to test that this season as the fixtures have been so difficult except against Watford where he got an assist.
Matches to date
WAT(H) 2-2 90 mins 0 goals 1 assist 0 bonus 5 points
SOU(A) 3-0 88 mins 2 goals 0 assists 3 bonus 13 points
MCI(H) 0-2 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
TOT(A) 0-0 68 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
CHE(H) 3-1 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
SWA(A) 0-0 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
WBA(A) 3-2 88 mins 2 goals 1 assists 3 bonus 16 points
LIV(H) 1-1 90 mins 1 goals 0 assists 2 bonus 7 points
MUN(H) 0-3 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 1 points
ARS(A) 1-2 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
Whats clear from this is not only the inconsistency of returns but the difficulty of the fixtures that he’s faced.
Fixtures to come
Sunderland (H)
West Ham (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Norwich (A)
You really couldn’t ask for a better set of fixtures. 5 of the 6 teams above are in the top 8 teams for goals conceded
Underlying stats
Lukaku’s shot stats see him ranked about 11th and he doesn’t really figure in the creating chances stats. They are better shooting wise than his 13-14 season although he has fallen off the charts with his lack of creating chances this season so far. Again the opposition isn’t helpful and very tough which mitigates the stats.
Kane
Overall stats
It’s hard to believe stats wise it’s the same player as last season. Returns and consistency are way off last year
Matches to date
MUN(A) 0-1 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
STK(H) 2-2 63 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
LEI(A) 1-1 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
EVE(H) 0-0 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
SUN(A) 1-0 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
CRY(H) 1-0 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
MCI(H) 4-1 90 mins 1 goals 0 assists 2 bonus 7 points
SWA(A) 2-2 80 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 0 points
LIV(H) 0-0 90 mins 0 goals 0 assists 0 bonus 2 points
BOU(A) 5-1 84 mins 3 goals 0 assists 3 bonus 17 points
So a reasonable mixture of fixtures certainly not the difficult fixtures that Lukaku faced.
Fixtures to come
Aston Villa (H)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)
Chelsea (H)
West Brom (A)
Newcastle (H)
So a good fixture next but then, depending on what you think of West Ham, 4 tricky fixtures after that.
Underlying stats
Really very good. 5th overall in shooting stats and 4th in creating chances stats. His shooting and creating chances stats though are significantly better than last season when he scored 21 goals and 7 assists.
Overall
So it’s an interesting one. Neither have started consistently. However Lukaku isn’t far off his level of his successful season of 2 years agao it’s just been the result of a couple of games rather than consistent returning. Kane’s returns have been far off his successful season of last year. However both have mitigation. Lukau with difficult fixtures and Kane with great underlying stats which mean he hasn’t got the returns he should have. Going forward Lukaku has excellent fixtures and Kane has the ability to continue to rectify the lack of returns his shots have deserved.
I haven’t decided which transfer to go with this week. It will probably be Lukaku just because of the fixtures.
