Player analysis
Defences
If you think there was a sudden change in the defence of Newcastle because of this result you’d be wrong. This was a siege with Krul the hero. Tottenham were fairly untroubled and had sound defensive stats
Eriksen
Returned the side and created a hatful of chances for others. On any other day he would have had an assist.
Townsend
Since his goal against villa its been 3 games with no returns and seems very pricey at £6.0m for 1 goal and 1 assist in 10 games. Did his usual shooting outside the box exhibition to no avail.
Paulinho
Its hard to fathom that with the amount of shots in the box he has had that he only has 1 goal in 11 games to add to his 2 assists. loads of chances here again but no return. None now in 3.
Soldado
If Paulinho can go away wondering how he didn’t score then Soldado must have thought it was all just a bad dream. Loads of chances but just couldn’t put anything away. None in his last 2 but the stats and history have to point to him being a scoring threat over the season.
Swansea 3 Stoke 3
SWANSEA: Tremmel 6; Rangel 6, Flores 5, Williams 6, Davies 5; Britton 6, de Guzman 6 (Shelvey 71, 7); Routledge 7, Pozuelo 7 (Canas 90), Lamah 7 (Dyer 55, 7); Bony 7.
Subs not used: Amat, Taylor, Shelvey, Canas, Alvaro, Zabret
Goals: Bony 56, 86, Dyer 74 Assists: De Guzman Shelvy
Booked: Chico, Williams, Rangel, Routledge, Dyer
STOKE: Begovic 7; Cameron 6, Shawcross 6, Huth 6, Pieters 6; Palacios 7 (Adam 71, 7); Walters 8, Nzonzi 7, Ireland 7 (Wilson 72, 6), Arnautovic 5 (Etherington 55, 6); Crouch 7.
Subs not used: Whelan, Jones, Wilson, Assaidi, Sorensen
Goals: Walters 8, Ireland 25, Adam 90 Assists: Huth Crouch 2
Line ups:
Davies got the LB nod over Taylor. Pozuelo and Lamah started at the expense of Dyer. Laudrup had no choice but to start Bony with Michu injured.
The only real debate in the Stoke lineup seems to be whether Palacios or Wilson/Whelan starts and this time it was Palacios
Defences
The Stoke defence had fairly poor stats and while the Swansea defence gave away few chances those that they did were good opportunities
Bony
He’s always had good shooting stats and today he unquestionably had the best, its just his conversion rate that’s not that spectacular although here it all came right with 2 goals. Will probably keep playing while Michu’s injured although he really does seem to in and out of the team alot. Whether this is a turning point or not remains to be seen. Only started 5 games out of 11 but his fantasy premier league points per minute is excellent.
Arnautovic
The cheapie getting a reasonable fantasy premier league manager following did absolutely nothing while his team scored 3 goals. Subbed on 54 minutes. Its still only 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 starts
That’s the gameweek analysis done.
