FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW11 TIPS – THE ALTERNATE FFGEEK TEAMS

Fantasy Premier League, ffgeek teams

Here’s where we look at the alternative FFGeek teams. One is a bookies odds based team and the other a shots on target based team. Both had good weeks this week and the Bookies team still has a wildcard.  The shots on target team returned to it’s upward trajectory this week

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW11 TIPS– THE ALTERNATE FFGEEK TEAMS

THE BOOKIES TEAM

This is a team based on the anytime goal scoring odds of the bookies. It replaces the attacking player with the worst anytime goalscoring odds for the player with the best anytime goalscoring odds for the next game with no other factors taken into account. It does work within a basic team structure though and only 1 attacking player per premier league team. That’s causing some issues with Lallana, stupidly used earlier,  blocking the 3 attacking Liverpool mids until the WC is used

Here’s how they fared last week:

It was the 4 clean sheets that made it last week with only 2 attacking players in 7 getting a return.  Still an excellent score

Here’s how it line’s up this week:

The ban to Arnautovic means that this week necessitated 1 transfer rather than the usual roll over.  The best odds with the £7.5m available was for Antonio at £2.70 anytime goal scoring odds surprisingly.  Other options in the price range were Gundogan, Lanzini, Allen, Son and Mata.  Anotonio had the best odds of all those.  Redmond and Tadic were ineligible due to Austin but still Antonio had better odds.

Aguero has the best odds for captain

THE SHOTS ON TARGET TEAM

This is a team based on the Shots on Target underlying stat. This is widely thought to be the most accurate predictor of goals. The team transfer policy is to replace the attacking player with the worst Shots on Target stats for the player with the best Shots on Target stats with no other factors taken into account. Again only 1 attacking player per team. This disadvantage is that it takes a while for the data to build up to a reasonable sample size.  Shots on target are assessed on a per minute basis rather than an aggregate basis

So an excellent week which saw an improvement in 200k places as the SOT team steadily moves up with more data.  The defence again was a big participator

This week:

I had 2 transfers to carry over but with the only transfer that was feasible was Heung Min Son out as his stats had diminished significantly.  The rest of the lineup were very high on the shots on target ranking and didn’t warrant change.  So I rolled the transfer over.  Both Stanislas and Walcott are injury doubts but I figure 1 of them will play and if 1 doesn’t then Siggy can come from the bench.

Mata is the transfer in.  It may surprise you (it did me) that Mata has such strong SOT stats.  At least on a per minute played basis.  I think the Burnley game certainly helped.  His minutes played though are pretty irregular and he’s often a sub target.  I doubt if his stats would fare that well on a 90 minute basis but at the moment that’s not the rule so in he goes.  On selection I did the bookies odds so Siggy interestingly goes on the bench.

Here’s how the team lines up.  Aguero captain.  This team follows the polls for captain choice
