Sane

An incredible 6 goals and 5 assists in 6 starts and 4 sub appearances for the LW.  What’s more he’s started the last 5 and played 90 minutes in 4 of those games.  Whether that run of starts is  a good sign or not remains to be seen but his returns are fantastic and he has underlying stats to back that up.

Rotation will always be a risk especially with Pep looking like he want’s to win everything.  The legitimacy of Bernardo now as a starter for Pep makes it easier to rotate Sterling and Sane even  in a single striker system as we saw at the weekend.

Abraham

An assist in the Arsenal game in GW10 continued a reasonable run for the cheapie forward.  He’s started 9 matches plus 1 sub for 4 goals and an assist at an ok rate of return. His underlying stats are also in the reasonable range but he’s not particularly consistent.  He is subject to a very defensive manager too.

Jones

8 clean sheets in 10 games is incredible and while Jones may have negligible attacking potential he is great value within that Man Utd defence.  Has had a few injury scares but the bottom line is that he’s played 90 minutes in 9 of 10 games and probably more suited to the premier league than the Champions League.  Mourinho has talked about Rojo back after the International break but it’s difficult to see Jones being displaced on current form although although the European teams have to have some rotation risk.

Kane

Interesting one this.  I had to check it out a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing something or I had hit the wrong drop down as I couldn’t see any logical reason why you would transfer him in injured.  I could understand why you would hold him with Palace next but transfer him in? At least wait until the UCL game and the end of week press conference to see if that helps the situation.

According to the manager he could be fit for the Real Madrid UCL tie midweek but Pochettinho isn’t exactly someone we can trust in these situations

Morata

Could have had a hat trick vs Bournemouth and although didn’t score had a bundle full of chances to show that everything isn’t off the rails after the poor performance against Watford.  Has 6 goals and 3 assists in 8 starts (not counting the City injury game) and has been a goal threat in those games apart from Watford and the Arsenal game.  He’s returned a goal or assist in 5 of those 8 games.  Only negative could be rotation given some fragile type words from Conte and the European and premier league schedule

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred OUT players so far in the gameweek

David Silva

Lets face it any Manchester City attacking player who doesn’t return a goal or assist at least in 2 games is going to see himself transferred out of FPL managers teams. However I thought that he was a real goal threat in the WBA game often in the opposition penalty area and could have had a couple of goals.  The underlying stats bear this out and he’s posted strong shooting numbers in 2 of his last 3 matches.

However it’s hard to match the explosiveness of Sane and Sterling and it’s whether you believe he’s now going to start scoring to couple this with his assist ability and what looks like additional gametime security over others

Mkhitaryan

It’s now 5 games with no returns and another chance for him to get showered before everyone else as he gets subbed off after 64 minutes.  Those 5 blanks haven’t been bad luck either they’ve been 5 poor performances

Kane

It’s not often you see someone in the most transferred out and in and I don’t know which I understand less.  Surely having held him for the game at the weekend when he was definitely out you’re going to give it some time to see whether he’ll play v Palace?

As I said above, according to the manager he could be fit for the Real Madrid UCL tie midweek but Pochettinho isn’t exactly someone we can trust in these situations

Jesus

A quite disturbingly quiet game from the young Brazilian in the win over WBA.  To be fair though that’s probably the first start that you would criticise his performance this season.

6 goals and an assist in 8 starts is no reason to panic and the underlying stats overall are still good.

The real danger is if Pep sticks to a lone striker system which will see him and Aguero play alternate games.  Now for reasons only Pep knows he didn’t do it v Wolves and while Pep’s fighting for all competitions it may still mean a decent amount of starts but it’s nothing like ideal

Coutinho

Missed out at the weekend due to a groin/hip/pelvic injury.  Sounds 50/50 that he could play at the weekend.  After the international break Mane could be back which would push him back into the midfield 3 rather than the front 3.  2 goals and 1 assist in 5 starts sounds good but  the underlying stats quite frankly don’t back it up.  There’s a lot of reliance on wonder strikers and direct free kicks.
