fantasy premier league GW13 team tips – FFGeek contributors show their teams part 2

Here’s part 2 of the 10 or so FPL managers who contribute to the FFGeek site with good histories who show their teams each week. This will give people a feel for what other managers are doing. It’s a fairly informal thing with no obligation on anyone and these teams may change at anytime before the deadline without further notice. It also wont cover early transfers. It’s just to give an idea of the trends for the week no more.

Here’s the link to the part 1 contributors article if you haven’t seen it

GW12 Summary

Anyway, back to my FPL team. It’s been a rather stale affair for me over the last few weeks as my rank has barely changed since GW8 when I was ranked at 258k. Captaincy choices is a big factor in this as I haven’t received a score of over 10 (after doubling) from my captain since GW7! I have regrettably placed my trust in Kane over the last 2 weeks and he has let me down badly; tough to not look at Salah’s big hauls and have a tinge of regret. Having said that, anytime you collect a green arrow after a captaincy blank, especially with other popular options doing well, you have to be reasonably satisfied.

More good scores from Morata, Richarlison and Salah were well received, while the defence had a solid week. The only other issue was that I made the foolish mistake of bringing Jones in early which meant I had to take a hit after his injury in order to bring in Daniels for Cresswell. At least the Bournemouth man supplied a decent return! In the end, a reasonable score of 69 which could have been better but could have been worse as well and sealed a small green arrow.

GW13 Team

Onto this week and I am not planning to rectify my Jones error just yet with the reason being that I have Kiko and Mee waiting to come off my bench if and when he doesn’t play. Therefore, it doesn’t seem necessary to make any move yet as he still could be a good option going forwards for a reasonably price in a strong United defence. Aside from that, my team is in good shape so I will be rolling the transfer this gameweek.

Loftus-Cheek gets a rare start in what looks a good fixture at home to Stoke and I’m pretty confident that Davies will get the start at Wembley this week after missing out in the Champions League on Tuesday. Morata and Salah face each other so I’d like to witness some goals in the late kick-off on Saturday. There’s some good fixtures spread around the rest of the team so I’m hopeful of a decent score!

Onto my key decision for the week; the captaincy. I must be a glutton for punishment as the armband currently sits on Kane again. It seems crazy to me that there are significant doubts around captaining arguably the best striker in the league against a poor defensive side who have just sacked their manager. Alas, that is the situation but surely Kane has to come good in one of these ‘easy’ home fixtures eventually. Lukaku is the other obvious choice but I’m sticking with the Spurs man. He scored a hat-trick in the respective fixture last season so fingers crossed that we get a similar return this weekend!

Looking Ahead

Looking further forward, my aim is to be residing within the top 100k by the time Christmas rolls around which would leave me primed for a good run in the New Year. That target is currently 20 points away so if I can nail the captain over the next few weeks, it should be doable.

We’ve got a crazy schedule ahead of ourselves in December and I certainly sit in the camp that advocates having a strong bench for this period. With Carroll losing his place and Davies a constant rotation threat, I will be looking to move them out of my team. Furthermore, there seems to be a lot of value in midfield so, reluctantly, it seems the time to move away from a big three up front.

Therefore, I am looking to activate a ‘mini-wildcard’ ahead of GW14 and shift out Lukaku, Carroll and Davies for a -4 hit. I haven’t decided who I will be bringing in but it will involve a cheap striker and a premium midfielder; hence I will be carefully studying the games this weekend to help make my decision. Players that I will be keeping an eye on include Pogba, Hazard, Sané, Alonso and Wilson.

That’s a decision for future Joseph and one which I’m sure won’t be easy. For now, I’m just going to (hopefully) enjoy GW12 as I hope you all do as well. Best of luck for this week and may your arrows be green!
