FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW14 TIPS – ANALYSING 10 TOP FPL MANAGERS

Here’s our regular feature where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers who in the last 3 seasons where none have finished outside the top 10k. It was a good week for the top 10 managers with 7 of 10 having green arrows.  The top 10 Managers have played 30 times in the last 3 years and none have finished outside the top 10k in that time. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW14 TIPS – ANALYSING 10 TOP FPL MANAGERS

GAMEWEEK SUMMARY

A good week for the top 10 FPL managers. 7 of the 10 had green arrows.

The average score of the managers in GW13 was 57 compared to the average of 46. Thats 11 points and 24% above the average score. The high score of the 10 was 68. The low score was 45. An expected spread of 23 for a high scoring gameweek.

The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers is 323k compared to the last gameweek of 380k. An improvement of rank of 57k. The best rank is 1,600 and the lowest 1.49m. A couple of scores are distorting the average. If you calculated the median rank then that is 180k compared to 193k last gameweek. An improvement of rank of 13k. At the moment 4 have overall ranks inside 100k

The average value is slightly down from last week at £103.5m from £103.8m last gameweek.

If you’re interested my score was 43. A terrible score which saw a big red arrow of 54k. None of the managers had a lower gameweek score. My overall rank is now 228k  compared to 174k last gameweek. A worsening of rank of 54k. I’m still ahead of 4 of the top 10 managers. My team value is low though in comparison at £102.6k down from £103.2m last gameweek. My total score is 675 points.

The top 10k average score was 47 compared to the Top FPL managers of 57.

What it does show is that the top 10 fpl managers I follow have some big differences (30% difference is the benchmark) with the top 10k rank. Here are the main ones:

The top 10k favour the following significantly more than the managers I follow:

Capoue and Costa

The 10 Managers I follow favour the following more significantly than the top 10k

Foster Amat, Holebas, Firmino, Walcott and Aguero, Austin and Benteke

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM

Again we focus on the managers team who last season finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers ending up in 1,400th position. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him. At present he is in 75k overall rank a big improvement in rank from the last gameweek of 110k. His total points are 702 after a good score of 59 this gameweek. Just to give you a bit of context his last 3 years overall rankings have been 1,450, 277 and 90.

This week I think he will lose Lukaku for Kane maybe taking his first hit of the season with the Coutinho injury

Highest scoring

This manager is the highest ranked manager going from strength to strength ranked 1,600 with a gameweek score of 68.

fpl-gw14top10ketsuteam

Lowest scoring team

This is the manager with the lowest scoring team of 45 who is ranked 701k. Just to show you that this guy is no mug his last 3 seasons overall ranks are 3229, 1951 and 3,749.  In 7 years he’s never finished outside the top 10k.  Another example of what a brutal season this is so far

fpl-gw14utkarshteam

The power of defence with 22 points vs 6 and 12 points on the captain pick difference accounted for 18 of the 23 points difference.

TOP 10 MANAGERS COMBINED TEAM

Here’s a team to represent the top 10 managers. Those highlighted are where it’s different to my team. It’s unaffordable at around £105m.

Just noticed that FPL legend Ville Ronka did two early transfers possibly to stay safe of being outpriced. There’s a fall in his team value which would suggest he got rid of lukaku and coutinho. Maybe to Siggy and kane

Re the article….Ville doesn’t do hits. Tends to roll 2 FT’s.

    Kane/Siggy in I reckon for Lukaku/Cout.

    Interesting he doesn’t own Haz/Costa.

Coutinho and Lukaku out for Siggy and Kane… that’s what I did yesterday too.

Costa or Kane for Lukaku? Thoughts? I already have Chelsea coverage in Hazard. My only Spurs cover is Walker… Thanks!

Costa has been very consistent this year. May or may not continue. I’d lean towards Kane with Swansea, Hull AND Burnley all at home in the next 4 GW’s!!

“Coverage” as a concept is a load of shit. Pick players who you think will get you points, not players who play for certain teams.

OK guys and gals, 107 point behind my mini-league leader (who has an 80pt lead over 2nd place). Need to catch up. Considering Aguero to Kane and then getting Alonso in defence next week. Am I being foolish?

    Pickford/ Jaku
    Jenkinson, Chambers, Pieters, Evans, Amat
    Hazard, Sanchez, Firminho, Redmond, Marney
    Aguero, Costa, Austin
