fantasy premier league GW15 player picks by Rob Reid (the FPL Vet)

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 15 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

Player categories

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll keep a tally each week of how things are going – I’ll analyse the Banker over 4 GWs, the other 2 will just be on a weekly basis. Wish me luck and here goes!

Gameweek 14 Review

Here’s the link to Rob’s GW14 player picks

GW11 Banker – Phil Jones

GW11 – 1 point (yellow card, 1 goal conceded)
GW12 – 0 points (injured) [Eric Bailly also injured]
GW13 – 0 points (injured)
GW14 – 0 points (injured) – an injury riddled banker stint for glass-legged Jones. Well priced for United defender so one to watch once tough GW15 & 16 fixtures are out the way

GW12 Banker – Wilfred Zaha

GW12 – 7 points (1 goal)
GW13 – 2 points
GW14 – 3 points (midfield clean sheet) – the only explosions going off in Brighton on Tuesday were in the away end. Did have a good effort well saved by Ryan in the first half.

GW13 Banker – Leroy Sane

GW13 – 1 point (yellow card)
GW14 – 0 points (didn’t play) – surprisingly left out in midweek. Will he play in GW15 or will he be saved for the UCL?

GW14 Banker – Cesar Azpilicueta

GW14 – 0 points (didn’t play) – another one surprisingly benched, usually the reliable ever-present. Bodes well for him starting at the weekend though.

GW14 Ace Eden Hazard

1 point (came on as a sub) – ok this is getting silly now. Again looks good for him playing GW15, the worry now is if Morata will be rested.

GW14 Joker – Alexis Sanchez

8 points (1 goal, midfield clean sheet) – that’s more like it though subbed after 70 minutes and now yellow flagged for the United game with a possible hamstring issue.

GAMEWEEK 15 Picks

Banker – Jonjoe Kenny (EVE £4.3m) – HUD

A bit of an odd choice but hear me out! First up, he’s a budget defender who’s started the last 6 games. Everton may have been like a sieve the last few weeks but I suspect things to tighten up significantly under Big Sam and they kept a clean sheet against West Ham in midweek, albeit with the help of a Pickford penalty save. GW15 opponents Huddersfield are hardly renowned for being high scoring and despite visiting Anfield in GW16 they then have Newcastle and Swansea so could rack up some more clean sheets, not to mention his assist on Wednesday. Could be a good enabler or squad player with the busy festive programme approaching.

Ace – Mo Salah (LIV £9.8m) – bri

Previously a Banker, he gets the nod as this weeks Ace with 8 goals and an assist in his last 6 and 6 double figure hauls this season. Now has over 50% ownership though interestingly has never been the most captained player in the game in any given gameweek. The latter statistic may change in GW15 for The Reds trip to The AMEX and having only played 23 minutes in midweek (which was still enough time for 2 goals) who would bet against another good haul this week?

Joker – Xherdan Shaqiri (STO £6.0m) – SWA

2 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 for the Swiss and he also has a good share of set-pieces. He can sometimes be a frustrating player to watch, but he is capable of absolute magic as well. He could be just the man to unlock a Swans defence that is a bit more stubborn than their league position suggests.

That’s it from me on Player Picks – best of luck this week everyone.
