fantasy premier league – GW15 Saturday review

Gameweek analysis

Here’s my review of the fantasy premier league GW15 Saturday games.  I’m doing it in the slightly briefer version that I did last week.  Just brief notes on players performances and stats

Fantasy premier league  – GW15 Saturday review

Man Utd 0 Newcastle 1

RVP was the surprise in the Man Utd lineup.  As usual Moyes vague words pre match were the direct opposite of what happened.  Hernandez played in front of RVP which is always a mistake for me.  Much as I like Hernandez, it just ends up with RVP far too deep.  Jones returned as the CDM.  Newcastle have been fairly predictable in selection.  The only surprise was that Anita came into midfield instead of Ameobi to help them outnumber them. This had a big influence on the game, not least  because it meant that RVP ended up dropping into midfield to pick either Anita or Tiote up when Newcastle was in possession.

Both defences had fairly solid stats.

RVP was a huge disappointment.  He obviously wasn’t fit and as I said I said above he was constantly too deep.  He didn’t have a shot against one of the worst away defences in the league.

Cabaye was excellent and played in an advanced role in front of Anita and Tiote.  He scored the winner and had good shooting stats although a little short on chance creation.

Remy was very quiet with little attacking output

Crystal Palace 2 Cardiff 0

Palace’s lineup was unchanged from midweek.  Cardiff bought in Kim for Gunnarson.  Palace continue with 4-4-2 with Jerome and Chamakh up front.    Odemwingie was surprisingly for me on the bench.  Bellamy wasn’t in the squad.

The Palace defence was pretty solid.  Cardiff gave alot of chances away.

Jerome scored and had the best shooting stats.  This season at the moment is not the time for cheapie strikers though.

Bannan had little shooting stats but had great creating chances stats.

Whittingham.  Another cheapie midfielder.  Had no attacking output whatsoever

Liverpool 4 West Ham 1

Rodgers has  tinkered with his lineup although Sakho in for the ill Agger was the only change in this game.  Flanagan held his place as did Sterling.  Big Sam made a number of changes for this game.  McCartney was a surprise LB.  Maiga came in as striker.

The Liverpool defence again failed to keep a clean sheet although its stats were reasonably good.  West Hams were atrocious.

Gerrard again returned with an assist keeping up his consistent form.  Unfortunately a hamstring injury during the game could rule him out for some weeks.  Although he did little shooting wise he created alot of chances.

Coutinho.  Pretty good shooting sats and creating chances stats but again no returns.  its a goal and assist in 6 games which has been disapointing considering Liverpool have scored 17 in that time.  Unfortunately now the tricky games start.

Suarez.  What can you say?  A goal and 2 assists backed up again by unreal shooting stats.

Nolan.  Sent off and will now face a 3 match ban.  Did nothing up to then

Southampton 1 Man City 1

Lineups:  Chambers Fonte Osvaldo and Cork came in for Yoshida ,  the injured Clyne, Lambert and the injured Wanyama.  Negredo and Milner came in for Dzeko and Navas as rotation.

The much hoped for improved Man City away defence, Kompany and all just didn’t materialise.  pretty ordinary stats. Southamptons were ok considering the opposition.

YYT no attacking output but still nearly scored

Nasri. Did nothing

Aguero.  Scored 1 but could have scored a hat trick easily.  Just one of those days.  On another he would have got 4 or 5.  Easily the best shooting stats.

Negredo.  Did nothing

Lallana.  fairly quiet.

JWP.  Created a few chances but no returns.

Osvaldo.  Played very well.  Scored and had great shooting stats.

Stoke 3 Chelsea 2

Lineups:  Mikel and Schurrle in for Lampard and Willian.  Torres up front.  Mata started again.  Azpilicueta kept his place.

Both sides defences had reasonable stats but both sides took their chances.

Ireland.  Could be another cheapie at £4.6m if he starts after a goal and an assist.  A goal in both his last 2 starts.  Stats were only ok but does have the advanced position.

Hazard.  another day at thebottom of the roller coaster that is Eden Hazard.  Did nothing

Mata.  Really quiet game,  No attacking stats

Schurrle:  Clinical finishing.  Stats were ok but it was great conversion of chances

WBA 0 Norwich 2

More Clark mystery rotation lineups with Long left out for some reason.  Rest of the team was predictable.  Surprisingly Hooper and Elmander started up front.

The game was a siege on the Norwich goal.  WBA gave very little chances away.

Long.  Came in for the 2nd half and had great shooting stats but no returns.

Sessegnon.  Another day of great chances and unreal misses.

Fer.  A goal and an assist but in reality made the most of his chances

Sunderland 1 Spurs 2

Dossena was dropped and Celustka came back in.  Fletcher and Altidore both started.  Soldado was on the bench.  Defoe stated.  Chadli was in instead of Townsend.

Sunderlands defence was poor.  Spurs was ok.

Paulino finally got the goal that his consistent shooting stats deserved.

Defoe was at his shoot on sight best and was very unlucky not to score

Good luck to everyone for Sunday in fantasy premier league GW15
