Here’s the FFGeek team in our fantasy premier league GW18 article. As usual we look at the last gameweek, the transfers this gameweek, the team selection decisions and the captain choice. We also look at what the bookies make of the team

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW18 – THE FFGEEK TEAM

LAST GAME WEEK

Here’s the points from last week:

So a bad week in the sense that it was a 20k overall rank red arrow to 659k which is a pretty disastrous rank.  However 49 was a good score compared to the top 10 FPL managers I follow who’s average was 45 and who went down on average 48k in rank.   However, anytime you have 5 players in your team returning a goal, assist or clean sheet then you should be pleased as the most you can generally expect would be 4.  So to have a red arrow was pretty disappointing.  However the average was pretty high.

THE TRANSFERS

I’ve been mulling over transfers all week and paid a heavy value price for it. Just to set the scene I’ve got Ake ineligible to face Chelsea.  Stanislas injured and Costa suspended.  Therefore no cover for amy other players rotated or last minute injuries.

At the start of the week I would have liked to have fixed my Stanislas problem and keep building up my team of players that actually aren’t injured.  However the Ibrahimovic bandwagon has been relentless not only from a transfer perspective but also from a captain perspective for the gameweek.  Given his form and fixtures it seemed pretty churlish to not get him just to replace a £5.3mish midfielder.  So then it became whether I got rid of Kane or Costa to get him in.  That decision was also tied into my Aguero decision.  As if my front line was going to be Aguero and Ibrahimovic then there was a case for saying get rid of Costa so I had one less player not playing in GW18.  The Aguero decision was tough as his returns haven’t been great.  He is only 5th in FPL points per minute despite costing £1m more than anyone else.  What convinced me was his shooting stats which are better than anyone elses.  That convinced me to get him.  Also the fact that Kanes shooting stats haven’t been that bad in recent weeks helped me decide that it was Costa who I was going to transfer out.  Not Kane.

How I get Aguero in is another matter and something for GW20 (although Aguero is back in GW19 but away to Liverpool) is another matter.  Another Kane drop in price last night didn’t help

Here’s the lineup:

TEAM SELECTION

No real decisions here. With an injury and a suspension there were only 2 choices to make.  The first choice was whether Amat lined up against West Ham or Fletcher against Arsenal and that wasn’t a choice at all.  Amat went in.

The GK was the only other decision with Pickford or Foster away to Man Utd and Arsenal respectively.  I stuck with the better defense of WBA here.

THE BOOKIES VIEW

Here’s the anytime goalscorer odds and the clean sheet odds for what I expect to be the playing staff

The average at £3.09 is horrendous.  However that’s mainly due to Foster.  A median  pick would be £2.30 which is obviously excellent.  An average without Foster would be £2.32 which is also excellent.

THE CAPTAIN CHOICE

For now I’ve gone for Ibrahimovic as what at the moment appears to be the polls favourite.  Captain article to follow
