The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek in order

Alli

Anytime you’ve got a £5.1m midfielder playing in an attacking midfield position in a top 4 challenging team then you’ve got a winner even if he’s just a 5th midfielder.  Add to that a goal and assist in the victory in GW17 against Southampton and you have a recipe fior the biggest bandwagon in the gameweek.  Interestingly Demebele returning didn’t change things as Demebele played in the deeper position.  Alli’s played 7 games as an attacking midfielder with 2 goals and an assist in that position although those 2 games and an assist have been in the last 3 games.

Alderweireld

The transfers keep rolling in for the £5.9m Spurs CB even though he’s interestingly £0.8m more expensive than RB Walker who also got an assist and 3 bonus points at the weekend.  Spurs defensive stats finally manifested itself into a clean sheet after there only being 1 in the last 7.  Alderwiereld does have got attacking stats to be fair and has 2 goals and 2 assists this season

Ighalo

The £6.0m Watford forward emphatically passed the first test of tricky fixtures with 2 goals against Liverpool in GW17.  It’s now 12 goals and 5 assists in the first 17 games in the premier league.  This is no fluke either as his shooting and creating chances stats are very good.  An FPL  point every 12.1 minutes and a consistency return rate ( the % of games that a goal or assist results) is 65% are both incredible especially for the price.  The next 4 fixtures will be very interesting

Man City (H)
Southampton (A)
Swansea (A)
Newcastle (H)

Barkley

After 2 blanks it was back to form for the £7.5m Everton CAM with 2 assists and the reality is that it really could have been so much more.  Doesn’t really have great underlying stats.  The minutes per FPL points of 15.3 is reasonable.  The consistency rate of 41% isn’t ideal though.  However what you have is a CAM in a very good attacking team with a striker to feed in Lukaku in great form.

Mahrez

Another player in the category of hard to believe he’s not owned by everyone.   The  £7.0m Leicester midfielder justs keeps returning.  3 supposedly tricky games in the last 4 have seen 3 goals and an assist so the next tricky 3 in 4 should be very interesting.  Has pens and with someone of Vardys speed to earn them thats proved very productive.

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Mata

The £8.6m Man Utd midfielder has now gone 5 games without a return.  When those games have been against Watford, Leicester, West Ham, Bournemouth and Norwich then it only makes the situation alot worse.  Add to that Man Utd’s stuttering attack.  There’s also little to hold out hope for in the underlying stats as these are nothing to write home about

Stoke (A)
Chelsea (H)
Swansea (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)
Southampton (H)

Pelle

The £8.0m Southampton forward has not returned in the last 5 games and it’s also 1 goal in the last 8. An ongoing injury issue also hasn’t helped the cause.   A minutes per FPL point of 19.2 and a consistency rate of 38% is poor for the price.  While the shooting stats have been good over the season his ability to get them on target is pretty poor.  Arsenal next is a good time in theory to sell as well

West Ham (A)
Norwich (A)
Watford (H)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)

Cabaye

After returning in 3 consecutive games earlier (mostly through pens) in the season the £6.6m  Palace midfielder then went 6 games without a return until popping up in the 6 yard box against Stoke to score the winner.  Interestingly Pardew said after the game something to the effect that he didn’t want to see him up there.  However he does play in the 2 0f 4-2-3-1 so you are relying on set pieces and pens which isn’t the most predictable of returns.

Bournemouth (A)
Swansea (H)
Chelsea (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (A)
Spurs (H)

Coutinho

The £8.5m Liverpool midfielder has returned from injury to 2 games without a return amid stuttering performances from Liverpool culminating in the shocking 3-0 loss to Watford.  Interestingly he does have good underlying shooting stats which does give some hope for an upturn.  The returns of an FPL point per minute of 15.5 is ok but his consistency return rate of 33% is pretty terrible.  There’s some very good fixtures and some tricky ones.  So it’s a hard situation to read.

Sunderland (A)
West Ham (A)
Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (H)
Norwich (A)

Darmian

The £5.5m Man Utd FB hardly seems to be LVGs favourite (although that may not be such a problem soon the way things are going).  Injured but supposedly back for GW18 it’s possible he could play at LB instead of Ashley Young who was poor against Norwich.  That’s if indeed he is fit.  The United defence has been excellent and just as well as the attack has been a disaster.  However recently things haven’t been so rosy.  1 clean sheet in the last 5 is not great but partly due to injury.  However the disaster against Norwich really didn’t show the defence in great light and it wasn’t the patched up defence against Bournemouth.  Add to this his injury and his gametime uncertainty and sales aren’t a surprise but I would possibly consider waiting until the press conferences this week with the insipid attack of Stoke next.
