Here’s our regular feature where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers who in the last 3 seasons none have finished outside the top 10k. The top 10 Managers have played 30 times in the last 3 years and none have finished outside the top 10k in that time. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection. Another bad week with 8 of the 10 having red arrows. Even the “celebrity” manager had his 2nd consecutive red arrow.

The stats of the top 10 managers are incredible again this season.
1. The overall average finishing position of the top 10 managers is 2,943
2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000
GAMEWEEK SUMMARY
A bad week for the top 10 FPL managers. 8 of the 10 had red arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW17 was 45 compared to the average of 47. Thats 2 points and 4% below the average score. The high score of the 10 was 59. The low score was 37. An relatively high spread of 22 for the gameweek.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers took a small leap backward to 306k compared to the last gameweek of 258k. A worsening of rank of 48k. The best rank is 5,000 and the lowest 1.13m. A couple of scores are distorting the average. If you calculated the median rank then that is 127k compared to 128k last gameweek. A worsening of rank of only 1k. At the moment 2 have overall ranks inside 100k. 1 is inside the top 10k.
The average value is the same as last week at £104.7m.
If you’re interested my score was in comparison a good one at 49. Only 3 of the managers had a better gameweek score. However it didn’t help my rank. My overall rank is now 659k compared to 639k last gameweek. A worsening of rank of 20k. I’m still ahead of 2 of the top 10 managers. My team value is low though in comparison at £102.9m down from £103.3m last gameweek. My total score is 846 points.

The top 10k average score was 50 compared to the Top FPL managers of 45.
What it does show is that the top 10 fpl managers I follow have some big differences (30% difference is the benchmark) with the top 10k rank. Here are the main ones:

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM
Again we focus on the managers team who last season finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers ending up in 1,400th position. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him. At present he is in 109k overall rank a big drop in rank from the last gameweek of 67k. His total points are 913 after a poor score of 38 this gameweek. Just to give you a bit of context his last 3 years overall rankings have been 1,450, 277 and 90.
I was right in my prediction that last week he would take out Firmino for Eriksen. This week he will definitely take out one of Kane or more likely Costa for Ibrahimovic

So there were 22 points difference in the 2 scores. However only 2 was in the attacking players as only 3 players were different. Defence though accounted for 20 points difference. 29 to 9.
