FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW19 – THE FFGEEK TEAM

LAST GAME WEEK

Here’s the points from last week:

So a good week in the sense that it was a 190k overall rank green arrow to 469k and would have been so much better if the Southampton groundsmen actually replaced the turf  around the penalty spot with something other than material from a bouncy castle.   5 players returning a goal, assist or clean sheet out of 11 is the best it’s ever going to get.  3 is what you should be expecting 4 is good and 5’s a party.   It’s still a pretty disastrous rank though.

THE TRANSFERS

No transfers this week.  From what I can see in the forums etc everyone is buying back Costa even if they just sold him.  Not having him doesn’t sit well with me but I’ve accepted having Aguero instead of Costa so I may as well just stick with it rather than get him in then out and take a hit to get Aguero in.

I’ve got to say though that this week not having Costa scares the (insert your own word here) out of me.  However this year it’s impossible to avoid these sort of weeks.

Here’s the lineup:

TEAM SELECTION

No real decisions here. With Pickford injured there was no choice but to put Foster in the team at GK.

Vertonghen suspended is a complete pain given the good fixture he’s missing.

In defence Alonso picked himself.  As did Ake away to Swansea especially with how appalling they are at set pieces given his aerial strength. Then it became a choice between Amat and Holebas.  Holebas has the attacking potential.  However the 4 games that he did get attacking returns were not against any of the decent defensive sides so it seemed that Swansea have slightly more chance of a clean sheet than Watford.  I also remember the Swansea caretaker manager Alan Curtis did alot of interviews last time around when he seemed to actually pay attention to defence which I can’t believe Bradley did given the shambles the team was.  Unfortunately my recollection (which may not be accurate) is that Amat wasn’t favoured by him.

THE BOOKIES VIEW

Here’s the anytime goalscorer odds and the clean sheet odds for what I expect to be the playing staff:

The average at £2.82 is terrible. The median pick would be £2.53 is nothing flash either.  Any sort of green arrow would be a major success.  The captain choice, Alonso  and Kane especially are the key.

THE CAPTAIN CHOICE

For now I’ve gone for Ibrahimovic as what at the moment appears to be the polls favourite. Captain article to follow
