FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW19 WILDCARD TIPS – OUR IMAGINARY WILDCARD

This article is where we bring together our player rankings articles into a coherent structured team for the upcoming weeks. It gives a practical use to the player ranking articles.  There’s no stats in this article but here are the links to the player ranking articles so you can decide yourself.  BTW if you haven’t used your first wildcard remember it expires at the deadline of this gameweek

Here’s the team:

The team is a little pricey at around £103.2m.  Remember that the prices shown are my buy and sell prices and may differ from your own

I’ve started with the 2 cheapest GKs for save points rather than clean sheets.  Both have a shelf life though.  Butland is expected back at the end of Feb to take back his place from Grant and Pickford in a similar time frame.  Grant did have some issue with his parent club but I’ve just seen that he may have struck a permanent deal to stay.

It’s impossible to ignore the Chelsea defence and they were my starting point.  It’s either the attacking ability of Alonso or the bonus points that are Azpilicueta. Jones is great value for Man Utd with great fixtures and Cedric although not quite as good also ticks the same boxes for Southampton.  Middlesborough are undoubtedly the best value defence.  Bournemouth have their limitations but with Ake you at least get value and attacking potential

Structurally in attack I’ve also gone for a front 8.  The cheap forward isn’t that attractive an option at the moment so I’ve gone for Anichebe as a funding option but put in Stanislas in order to give a rotation option rather than a bench warmer which would probably be Middlesborough’s De Roon

Sanchez is a must.  I think Hazard could easily be a Firmino or Lallana as I have no Liverpool player here but with Stoke next Hazard’s worth an initial place.  Then I’ve gone for Alli over Eriksen although either are fantastic options.  I like Alli’s forward position but it’s whether you go for that or Eriksen’s set piece and assist potential

Upfront Ibrahimovic and Costa are obvious choices. There’s no funds for Aguero home to Burnley in GW20.  That would come with a hit.

Here’s a team with the premium from 3 as a comparison if you’re wondering what a wildcard would look like with that

Obviously no need for a front 8 in that instance so De Roon takes the benchwarming duties and Hazard is downgraded to Snodgrass.  The value here is about £103.8m

Hope that helps your choices
