fantasy premier league GW2 – captain options

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my option for best picks for the fantasy premier league captain in GW2

Soldado

Home to Swansea City.  Started well in fantasy premier league with a goal against Palace albeit from a penalty.  Good shooting stats and also created chances with strong game involvement.

Here’s the however.  Spurs weren’t great at home last year and struggled to break teams down.  They only scored 29 goals which ranked them 9th in the premier league. West Ham scored more goals.  This team is different though, Soldado is a quality goal scorer and they’ve added Chadli and Paulino to the team although they’ve lost Bale.  I thought they struggled against Palace to open them up with far too much emphasis on Lennon to create chances.  To add to the problem Swansea were a reasonable defensive team away from home.  They ranked 7th in goals conceded and got 5 clean sheets.

Despite the misgivings he’s an option for me.

Interestingly William Hill  at this moment in time have Soldado as the favourite anytime goal scorer at £1.91

Aguero

Away to Cardiff:  One of the quality strikers in the league against a newly promoted team.  History shows that top 4 teams can be a good captain choice away from home though as long as they play the right opposition.  Scored a goal and an assist in the opening game but this was off pretty thin underlying stats.

Doesn’t have any problem playing away 5 goals and 2 assists in 944 minutes (return every 138 minutes) isn’t a bad return and he’s pretty much up there with the best, even last year, in underlying stats away from home

No real data on the Cardiff defence but it had a nightmare against West Ham without Andy Carroll.  They will be up for it but City look classy.

A definite option for me.  Negredo  is a starting risk.

William Hill have Aguero and Negredo in the next group of players after Soldado at this moment at £1.91

Walcott

Away to Fulham.  One of the most consistent returners last year and style suits playing  on the break away from home.

Last year it was 5 goals and 3 assists in 1116 minutes which is a return every 140 minutes similar to Aguero.  Shots wise his stats were up with the best but away from home he didn’t create many chances.

However Fulham were a disaster on their home ground.  Only 3 teams conceded more goals last year and only Wigan and Southampton had less clean sheets

An option if a bit risky.

He has reasonably good odds at William Hill at £2.50 at the moment for an anytime goal scorer.

RVP

At home to Chelsea.  The most consistent returner last year in fantasy premier league.  At home he scored 12 goals and 6 assists in 1637 minutes at a rate of a return every 91 minutes which is pretty phenomenal.  3rd in the shooting and creating chances stats last year and started the season with 2 goals and fantastic underlying stats.

The only question is the opposition.  Last year they were 3rd ranked in goals conceded with 23 goals and 6 clean sheets.  However the underlying stats weren’t as good.  Also it shouldn’t be lost that United lost this game last year 0-1.

Always an option no matter who he plays

RVP is in the 4th group of players at £2.25 for an anytime goal scorer.

Others considered in brief:

Dzeko – Will he start.  Negredo has to be a good chance of starting with Aguero (Will Hill £2.25)

Giroud – streaky scorer who seems to have the pen duties with Arteta injured.  Only 1 goal away from home last year though (Will Hill £2.20)

Lambert – Sunderland had very good defensive stats against Fulham although they were terrible away from home last year.  A little bit risky for me (Will Hill £2.20)

Sturridge – The Villa defence performed well in the Chelsea game although not so well in underlying stats against arsenal.   I’m a little wary of betting against them (Will Hill (£2.25)

Summary:

1.  Aguero

2.  RVP

3.  Soldado

4.  Walcott

The RVP/Soldado one is a tricky one for me and as my 2 options don’t be surprised if I go for either tomorrow

Hope you found that helpful in your decision making process
