There’s player suggestions at the end if you want to skip all the stats preamble.

Stats definitions:

I’ve firstly ordered the teams by what I think is their defensive strength based on primarily last season’s stats with some tweaking for transfers and this season so far.

The stats after that are their:

fixture ease ranking so you can see who has the best fixtures to the end of the season. The first figure is GW2-4, the 2nd GW2-8 See our fixture ease article
best cheap secure gametime option and an attacking option so you can compare price.
GK price in as a comparison.
bookies odds for a clean sheet for GW2. The lower the better obviously.

xG OR, H and A.  This is the xG conceded rank for the 17/18 season. The first is overall rank, the 2nd is Home and the 3rd is Away.

The Schedule

Here’s the schedule in it’s normal format from last season . It maybe difficult to make out especially on a phone so if you’d rather have access to the original google spreadsheet click on the link. It should be set up so anyone can view but not alter. So just copy and paste it into your own spreadsheet if you want to mess about with it

Player suggestions for GW2

Here we are looking for players with a decent GW2 fixture, in a strong defence with a good ongoing fixtures:

£6.1m Mendy Man City – it’s hard to comprehend how attacking he was v Arsenal.

£5.0m Alexander Arnold or £6.0m Robertson Liverpool.  Either are good options.  TAA arguably has more competition for his place

£5.5m Bailly or £5.1m Shaw Man Utd if you think he can hold his place

£6.0m Davies Spurs – were shaky against Newcastle but were one of the better defences last season

£5.0m Pereira Leicester and £5.0m Ward/Mee for Burnley – I’m not really in favour of £5.0m for these 2 clubs bith both have a good run of fixtures and Pereira played RM in the last match.

West Ham and Watford as a pair are now set for 3 good reasonable home games with West Ham v Bournemouth, Watford v C Palace and West Ham v Wolves.  I’m not a huge fan of either defences but they do offer 3 reasonable clean sheet chances if paired.  There’s more pairing options in my pre-season defensive pairings article
