fantasy premier league GW21 review – Saturdays games

SPURS 4 WBA 0

Here’s the Spurs touch map

Kane

3 goals.  89 mins.  The game was just scoring practice.  Massive goal threat.  Missed 2 great chances inside the 6 yard box.  The 3rd goal was incredible

Alli

1 assist.  90 mins.  Another game playing as a support striker.  Surprisingly no goal threat apart from the one peach of a goal ruled out for offside.  Also little assist threat apart from his assist for Kane which was excellent.

Eriksen

2 assists.  90 mins.  Played on the right but often drifting in.  The expected couple of shots from distance.  Created a good amount of chances and was unlucky a deflected goal was technically an assist.

Rondon

Blanked.  90 mins.  Did nothing

Phillips

Blanked.  89 mins.  Had one good chance to score but apart from that did nothing

Defences

The Spurs defence was barely troubled.  WBA were under siege.  Foster kept it respectable

BURNLEY 1 SOUTHAMPTON 0

Here’s the Southampton position and pass map

Gray

Blanked.  86 mins.  Did absolutely nothing

Barnes

Blanked.  90 mins.  Did absolutely nothing

Rodriguez

Didn’t start.  20 odd minutes as a sub

Redmond

Blanked.  79 mins.  Very advanced position.  Had a reasonable amount of chances to assist and score

Tadic

Blanked. 67 mins.   Very advanced position.  Big goal threat and had 2 good chances to score for Southampton although disappointing assist threat

Defences

Burnley were under siege.  It was another Heaton master class.  Southampton were rarely seriously troubled

HULL 3 BOURNEMOUTH 1

Hernandez

2 goals:  82 mins.  Biggest goal threat of the match.  1 neat headed finish from close range the other with his feet further out.

Snodgrass

1 assist.  75 mins.  Biggest assist threat although little goal threat.  Took set pieces

Stanislas

1 goal.  Scored through a penalty with Wilson off the pitch.  Minimal goal and assist threat.  68 minutes subbed

Fraser

1 assist.  Despite the assist for the penalty no goal threat and minimal assist threat.  54 minutes subbed

Defences

Hull gave away only a few chances surprisingly but those they did were good ones.  Bournemouth were surprisingly defensively fragile.

SWANSEA 0 ARSENAL 4

Here’s the Arsenal pass and position map

Giroud

1 goal.  Subbed after 59 mins with injury.  Apart from the goal no real threat and no assist threat

Sanchez

1 goal.  78 minutes and did not look happy with coming off.  Very advanced as an LAM.  Good goal threat and some assist threat especially with 1 clear cut chance created for Ramsey.  Neat finish close in for the goal

Ozil

Blanked 78 minutes.  Advanced CAM.  Some goal threat and assist threat in the game.  In the area and influenced Girouds goal.

Sigurdsson

Blanked.  90 mins CAM position.  Some shooting from range but surprisingly minimal assist threat.  Wasn’t as involved as you’d like.

LLorente

Blanked.  69 mins  Did absolutely nothing

Defences

The Swansea defence was under siege.  You could say they were unlucky for 2 own goals if you’re being generous.  Interestingly apart from the injured Taylor the other 3 in defence were unchanged.  Arsenal also gave Swansea chances.

WEST HAM 3 C PALACE 0

Here’s the West Ham pass and position map

Carroll

1 goal:  90 mins.  Huge goal threat.  Was in one of those days when he was fantastic.  Unbelievable goal.

Antonio

3 assists:  80 mins.  Who knows what position he was supposed to be as he was absolutely all over the place including the first assist when he beat the offside trap from the LAM position.  Look at touch map.  Practically sitting behind the winger.  Some goal threat.  Did have practically every chance created turn to a goal so a little fortunate there.

Benteke

Blanked.  90 mins  No goal threat at all.  Some assist threat.

Defences

The West Ham defence was solid although was under pressure for parts of the first half.  Palace’s not so much.

WATFORD 0 MIDDLESBOROUGH 0

Deeney

Blanked:  90 mins.  Some goal threat and should have 1 goal when 1 on 1 with the GK but minimal assist threat

Doucoure:  90 mins.  Good goal threat.  Could be another cheap option at £4.6m if Cleverley doesn’t take his place.

Negredo

Blanked 90 mins.  Did nothing

Defences

The Watford defence performed well.  The Middlesboro defence was under a lot of pressure and Watford should have won easily

SUNDERLAND 1 STOKE 3

Here’s the Stoke pass and position map

Defoe

1 goal.  90 mins.  Scored and some goal threat.  Doesn’t need many chances though and the 1 on 1 he scored with showed what an excellent finisher he is.  Minimal assist threat

Crouch

1 goal 1 assist.  90 mins.  Assist showed a nice touch with his feet.  The long ball header out of Mannone’s hands was typical Peter Crouch.  Big goal threat and some assist threat generally in the game.

Arnautovic

2 goals.  90 mins.  LAM position.  2 great finishes.  Big goal threat.  No assist threat

Allen

Blanked.  90 mins.  Back to the CAM position but disappointingly minimal goal and assist threat

Defences

Neither defence covered themselves in glory.  It was a game of many chances.

LEICESTER 0 CHELSEA 3

Here’s the Chelsea pass and position map:

Hazard

1 assist.  78 mins.  Played as the false 9 centrally in the front 3.  Despite the position he wasn’t a goal threat at all and his assist was due to an unselfish layoff when he really could have shot.  Was more of an assist threat in the game

Pedro

1 goal.  83 minutes.  Played as the LAM in the front 3. A reasonable goal threat but no assist threat.  Neat headed finish for the goal.

Vardy

Blanked.  90 mins.  No goal threat whatsoever.  Some assist threat

Defences

Both defences performed relatively well although Chelsea played keep ball for a decent proportion of the game
