BEST TRANSFERS
Looking at the optimum combination of strong defence at an appropriate value, good fixtures and good odds then the best transfers for this gameweek are
Alonso Chelsea £6.6m
Jones Man Utd £4.9m
Yoshida Southampton £4.2m
Middlesboro Chambers £4.5m
Brunt WBA £5.0m
A FEW COMMENTS
Here’s a few value punts:
Ake Chelsea £4.2m – the LWB/LCB didn’t make the 18 in Chelsea’s last game and with Alonso stating he had no pain from his long term minor injury then it’s hard to see Ake becoming a major value play at least in the short term
Wimmer Spurs £4.6m – the CB seems the most likely replacement for Vertonghen who’s out for up to 2 months. Away to City it’s probably worth holding to see if he starts
Stones Man City £4.7m – I keep backing Man City as the stats show they should be a better defensive team than they are. He is a major rotation and late sub coming on risk
Chilwell Leicester £4.3m – played 3 of the last 4. Whether Leicester have the fixtures or defence to make even that value worth while is questionable
Holgate £4.1m and Funes Mori £4.6m both Everton – both are good value and Holgate started GW21 but is a major rotation risk. Funes Mori has started 6 of the last 8 but like Stones is liable to come on in the last few minutes if he is rotated
Collins West Ham £4.2m played in the last match within a back 3. The West Ham defence isn’t anything to write home about and he is a definite rotation risk but is cheap
Love Sunderland £4.0m – started the last 2 but with Jones and Manquillo potential RBs then he is a definite risk in a pretty hopeless defensive team
Injuries – Liverpool RB Clyne, Brunt of WBA and Southampton’S CB Van Dijk are both injury risks but expected to play. Dann of Palace is a major doubt
