The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the game week

Elia

The £5.5m Southampton midfielder scored both goals in Saints 2-1 win at Newcastle in his 2nd game following his loan to Southampton.  It followed his blank in his opening game.  For Werder Bremen last season the winger scored 4 goals and 4 assists in 33 games and approximately 2000 minutes.  Thats a goal or assist every 250 minutes or 1 every 3 games which isn’t anything spectacular.  He also will face competition from Mane when he returns from ACON and that will be a big gametime risk given his success for Saints to date.  Good fixtures coming up though

Next 6 fixtures:

Swansea (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)

Diego Costa

The £11.2m Chelsea striker came back to silence his FPL doubters with his 2 goals and 1 assist 16 point haul against Swansea.  The problem has been his lack of bonus in single returns ie 1 goal or assist and the other options in the Chelsea team.  There is a school of FPL thought that Hazard and Fabregas is a better Chelsea lineup.  However no player has a higher consistency return rate ie % of games with a goal or assist.  He also has 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games and has very good shooting and creating chances stats.  Good fixtures after the City game next

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Oscar

Speaking of clouding the Chelsea attacking coverage.  If he needed to announce himself the £8.3m Chelsea midfielder did so with 2 goals away to Swansea.  Thats now 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games which followed a couple of rest periods over the festive season.  No real underlying stats which always makes analysis tricky but has the ability to get into close scoring positions and conversly excellent shooting outside the box.  As I said for Costa, good fixtures after the City game

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Aguero

Despite 2 pretty unimpressive performances from the £12.5m Man City forward since coming back from injury the form this season prior to that has seen the transfers coming  in at January Wildcard time.  Great season shooting stats and has been a consistent performer each year.  A dangerous player not to own.  Reasonable fixtures after the Chelsea game

Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)

Kane

Again the £5.9m Spurs striker has seen the transfers coming in despite the blank in the home game to Sunderland where many FPL managers had him as captain.  However 6 goals and 3 assists in his last 7 show the vein of form he is in.  No real underlying stats which makes any drop in scoring hard to assess as bad luck or something more but great value.  Mixed fixtures though especially in the next 3.

West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek

Sigurdsson

No returns in his last 3 after 2 consecutive scoring games for the £6.7m Swansea midfielder. With the main target of his assists leaving in Bony many FPL managers have decided enough is enough and hence the sales.  Hard to assess whether this is a blip or not as he has no underlying stats in good times or bad to assess.  Does dominate set pieces but played deeper than usual which is another worry and this was his lowest average position in the season bar 1 game.  Mixed fixtures and Southampton away is a good game to sell before. Stories of Gomis unrest and an ongoing foot injury to Siggy can’t help the situation

Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)
West Brom (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Spurs (A)

Hazard

It’s a fickle world of FPL managers where 2 consecutive blanks can result in you being the 2nd most sold player in a gameweek.  It’s worth reiterating that the Chelsea £10.7m midfielder returned a goal or assist in 5 consecutive games prior to that and has been a far more consistent returner than last season.  He also has good fixtures after the City game and is the clubs penalty taker.

Man City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
Leicester (A)
West Ham (A)

Rooney

4 consecutive blanks and a midfield position with a forward classification is not a recipe for your FPL team.  The £10.7m Man Utd forward playing as a midfielder seems unlikely to get back into a striking position given that injury to RVP and the dropping of Falcao have not seen him play striker.  No underlying stats but thats not unusual for him. Really good fixtures

Leicester (H)
West Ham (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Sunderland (H)
Newcastle (A)

Silva

The £9.4m City midfield playmaker was constantly blocked from his supply against Arsenal and had to move wide after Jovetic came on.  1 assist in his last 3 has followed 4 goals and 1 assist prior to that.  Good underlying stats but more effective in a central position and it’s questionable whether that will continue when Bony is purchased.  If you’re going to sell, away to Chelsea is a good time to do so.

Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Stoke (A)
Newcastle (H)
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H)

Chadli

1 assist in 2 games for the £6.6m Tottenham midfielder despite 2 good fixtures after his sublime performance against Chelsea has meant a number of FPL managers have lost patience.  Only Sanchez as a midfielder has better shooting stats. Overall though his performance and average position and other stats weren’t that far off what we would normally expect.  Tricky next 3 fixtures though

West Brom (A)
Arsenal (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)
