FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW23 FORWARD TIPS – PLAYER RANKINGS
First it’s important to remember that each player is ranked as a transfer target for this week. So while we generally look at fixtures form and underlying stats a player who’s away to Man City is going to be ranked lower than someone home to Huddersfield for example. If possible a transfer should have a good fixture first up.
Firstly there’s a table of stats. Then there’s a bit of brief commentary on each player and their next 6 fixtures.

STATS DEFINITIONS
Fixt Ease: The ease of the mentioned fixture range from an attacking perspective. See our GW23 fixture ease article
Mins per FPL Pt. The amount of minutes a player takes to earn an FPL point. The shorter and obviously lower the number is the better
ATGS – the bookies anytime goalscoring odds for GW23.

THE SCHEDULE
Aguero
There’s no doubt that Aguero’s pedigree speaks for itself as does his returns and his underlying stats this season. Probably the only surprise is the lack of double figure FPL point hauls. Aguero has 3 compared to say Kane’s 7.
However the injury to Jesus has given him the chance to step away from the job share that he had with the Brazilian and get 1-2 months of nailed on gametime. However that does look in jeopardy with Alexis Sanchez supposedly in the frame. Even without Sanchez it’s hard to imagine that Pep will allow a situation to continue where Aguero is the only striker at the club. The EFL Cup match against Bristol City showed, if Pep even needed to be shown, that a striker is essential.
So it’s a bit of a monitor but whatever happens it has to be an improvement on having an out and out striker the quality of Jesus who was also so very Pep friendly to share duties with.
The Liverpool game could be a monitor of the situation but home to Newcastle and WBA could see him as a captain favourite if the status quo prevails

Kane
So inconsistent but so explosive when he does fire sums up Kane this season.
To return a goal or assist in under 50% of your games is absolutely not on for the price. But to get double figure FPL points in 7 of the 9 games you do return is quite phenomenal. While he continues to lead captain polls, has a high ownership and produces the odd explosive performance will fear continue to keep him in managers FPL squads. He looks to be the captain favourite again for his GW23 home clash v Everton

Morata
Anyone who saw Morata’s keystone cops inability to score against Arsenal must have been reaching for the transfer out button with despair afterwards.
However Morata has reasonable returns and decent underlying stats. What’s more there’s no history to show he’s a bad finisher. The fixtures are also excellent.
Its just that after being a bit part player for 2 seasons has the mental and physical fatigue been catching up with him

Lukaku
Lukaku is really the reverse of Kane this season. Where Kane has been inconsistent Lukaku has been consistent and where Kane explosive Lukaku has not been.
Lukaku has been seriously hampered by an inability to get bonus points which has seen him get double figure FPL point hauls only twice.
In essence though the level of returns for the price are poor and he doesn’t look like a captain option at the moment which is essential at that price.
However if you’re ever planning on rolling the dice with him at home to Stoke is a good time to start

Lacazette
The main problem with Lacazette is the continual substitutions at the 70 minute mark or so. In fact even with Giroud injured it is still being a problem so the issue is deeper than just making sure Giroud gets minutes.
To make it worse his returns when on the pitch are very ordinary. To keep piling on the negative, 8 goals and 4 assists have only elicited 3 bonus points
Getting him would mainly be about 3 good fixtures next

Firmino
Firmino in some ways is like Kane. Inconsistent but explosive. If you get him at the right time it’s a feast, get him at the wrong time, famine.
The strange thing about him is his poor goal threat underlying stats but excellent creating chances stats. He’s more like an attacking midfielder.
How he will be affected by the Coutinho absence will be interesting given that his compatriot was the man creative force in the team.

Murray
The Brighton striker has scored 6 goals in 13 starts plus 7 assists at a pretty ordinary rate but he has been producing reasonably good underlying stats.
The fixtures are a bit mixed, although the back 3 look good.

Wilson
Wilson should get a decent run in the team with Defoe out until the back end of February. 5 goals in 9 starts plus 3 as sub is an ok return although 3 goals were in the 1 match.

Benteke
2 returning games in 14 starts and his minutes per FPL point says it all. He’s been a disaster this season but at least he appears to have gametime certainty which is an issue clouding a number of cheaper strikers
