The Bandwagons

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek in order

Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum Newcastle £6.9m CAM mid (22 games 9 goals 4 assists) FPL point 16.8 mins. 9/22 36% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned)

Has thrived since moving into a central position behind the striker and it’s 2 goals and an assist in his last 2 games.  However before that it was 5 games without a return and following his goal in GW1 there was also 5 games without a return.  So you can see you’re dealing with an inconsistent returner.  Little in the way of underlying stats as well.  However the new position has the potential to change everything and that is the question

Watford (A)
Everton (A)
West Brom (H)
Chelsea (A)
Man City (H)
Stoke (A)

Aguero

Aguero Man City £13.3m  fwd (15 games 10 goals 2 assists) FPL point 12.7 mins. 6/15 40% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned) Has pens

Returned to form with 2 goals and an assist against Palace at the weekend.  No doubting his class but has been inconsistent and a minutes risk due to injury all season.  Great underlying stats and the best shooting stats of any forward

West Ham (A)
Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)

Sagna

Sagna Man City £5.6m RB (20 games 0 goals 3 assists) FPL mins per pts 19.4 (Man City 22 games 10 clean sheets and 21 goals conceded)

It comes to something when you are in the top 5 transfers in despite being rotated in the last gameweek but that is what’s happened to Sagna.  3 clean sheets in the last 4 means that Man City have finally found a way of getting clean sheets without Vincent Kompany who now looks likely to be out for most of the season. Sagna is certainly the value player at £5.6m compared to probably the most nailed on of Otamendi at £6.5m. However GW22 shows that with Zabaleta waiting in the wings and City fighting for trophies on all fronts you will have to accept some rotation.

Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)

Daniels

Daniels Bournemouth £4.5m LB (21 games 2 goals 3 assists) FPL mins per pts 22.8 (Bournemouth 22 games  5 clean sheets and 37 goals conceded) Has pens

An FPL point haul of 18 is going to get you attention as a £4.5m defender.  Daniels has pen duties at the moment for Bournemouth as well as a very attack minded attitude as a former winger.  How many clean sheets Bournemouth get is another matter.  It depends on whether you think the attacking ability is worth the clean sheet risk

Sunderland (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Arsenal (H)
Stoke (H)
Watford (A)
Southampton (H)

Targett

Targett Bournemouth £3.7m LB (8 games 0 goals 2 assists) FPL mins per pts 15.3 (Southampton  8 clean sheets and 24 goals conceded)

With Reece Oxford (remember him?) of West Ham the cheapest player in the FPL game.  Has come back into the team after being left out for 14 games as Koeman has used him as a LWB in a 3-5-2 system.  How much longeveity he has in the team remains to be seen as Bertrand is unquestionably the first choice LB so it relies on Koeman sticking with this system.  To be fair it’s brought 2 consecutive clean sheets.  Tough fixtures now though

Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (A)
West Ham (H)
Swansea (A)
Chelsea (H)
Bournemouth (A)

The Sinking Ships

These are the 5 most transferred out in order.  Very interesting as there are alot of very popular players here

Kolarov

Kolarov Man City £6.3m LB (19 games 2 goals 2 assists) FPL mins per pts 19.8 mins (Man City 22 games  10 clean sheets and 21 goals conceded)

The frustration of waiting for so long for a clean sheet and then when the last 2 come along you’re rested for the first and then go off with an injury 9 minutes before getting credit for the 3nd one.  Man City do seem to have gotten to grips with the defensive side without Kompany and 3 clean sheets in 4 games is evidence of that.  The injury has yet to be assessed for it’s seriousness but a decent amount of FPL managers have decided that the rotation and injury risk is worth jumping ship now.

West Ham (A)
Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
Liverpool (A)

Lukaku

Lukaku Everton £9.2m fwd (22 games 15 goals 5 assists) FPL point 14.0 mins. 13/20 59% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned) Probably has pens

Interesting one this.  I’m not sure I would be selling those stats with Swansea and Newcastle at home next.  His underlying stats are good too and show it’s no fluke.  However 2 consecutive blanks with the level of ownership he has can cause itchy transfer fingers to push the button.

Swansea (H)
Newcastle (H)
Stoke (A)
West Brom (H)
Liverpool (A)
Aston Villa (A)

Vardy

Vardy Leicester £7.3m fwd (22 games 15 goals 5 assists) FPL point 14.2 mins. 17/22 77% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned)

After 4 blanks finally returned an assist although it’s not enough to keep the transfers out at bay.  The stats over the season are unquestionably fantastic.  However recent returns and underlying stats have dropped off and when you blank for 4 consecutive games it doesn’t matter how unlucky you may have been sales will result.  The upcoming 4 fixtures don’t help either

Stoke (H)
Liverpool (H)
Man City (A)
Arsenal (A)
Norwich (H)
West Brom (H)

Ozil

Ozil Arsenal £10.0m CAM mid (20 games 3 goals 16 assists) FPL point 12.9 mins. 14/20 70% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned) Probably has pens

Missed out on the Stoke game with a foot injury but expected back for GW23. Again 2 consecutive blanks and this injury seem to have triggered off a number of sales.  It does surprise me selling those stats which are backed up by the best creating chances stats in the league

Chelsea (H)
Southampton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Leicester (H)
Man Utd (A)
Swansea (H)

De Bruyne

De Bruyne Man City £10.8m RAM mid (18 games 5 goals 9 assists) FPL point 14.2 mins. 8/18 44% consistency % of games that a goal or assist is returned) Has some set piece responsibility

Did get an assist in the 4-0 thumping of Palace which at least stopped the rot of 3 consecutive blanks.  Whether a player is worth this sort of investment where he plays on the right flank and the chances he creates are from crosses in the main and has this sort of consistency is another question.  Does have the ability to score big at home although failed that test with the last 2 home games.  The Sunderland game in GW24 and the possibility of a DGW in GW25 are the reasons to hold if you still have patience.

Crystal Palace (H)
West Ham (A)
Sunderland (A)
Leicester (H)
Spurs (H)
Newcastle (A)
