Hi and welcome to Gameweek 24 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll keep a tally each week of how things are going – I’ll analyse the Banker over 4 GWs, the other 2 will just be on a weekly basis.  Wish me luck and here goes!

Gameweek 23 Review

GW20 Banker – Mo Salah

GW20 – 9 points (1 goal, 2 bonus points)

GW21 – 14 points (2 goals, 2 bonus points)

GW22 – injured

GW23 – 11 points (1 goal, 1 assist, 1 bonus points) – Another double figure haul in a fantastic attacking display from Liverpool – his vision for his goal was superb, not to mention the execution. It’s bottom club Swansea at The Liberty next.  The hosts have the worst home record in the league and Liverpool have the second best away record. Dare you not Captain him, let alone own him?

GW21 Banker – Marcos Alonso

GW21 – 6 points (clean sheet)

GW22 – 7 points (1 goal, 2 goals conceded)

GW23 – 8 points (clean sheet, 2 bonus points) – A fortunate clean sheet perhaps as Leicester were unlucky in the first half but point we’ll take nonetheless. Still posting good attacking stats and heavily owned so looks like a core player now.

GW22 Banker – Harry Kane

GW22 – 3 points

GW23 – 13 points (2 goals, 3 bonus points) – It’s 20 goals, 1 assist and 25 bonus points now for the league’s leading goal-scorer, the only negative being the inconsistency of his returns. He bagged a hat-trick in the reverse fixture against this week’s opponents Southampton – competition for Salah for the captain’s armband!

GW23 Banker – Matthew Ryan

1 point (2 goals conceded) – A disappointing result for The Seagulls as their away troubles continue. A depleted Chelsea visit the AMEX this week, the Blues having been rather goal shy themselves over the last few week. Morata is suspended however so maybe they’ll have a centre-forward who can convert chances this week, either way – Ryan is sure to be busy!

GW23 Ace – Jessie Lingard

2 points (booked) – A frustrating blank against Stoke. His attacking threat was somewhat crowded out by Jose’s decision to field 4 rather than 3 attacking midfielders; though he did have a high xA score. It looks like Alexis Sanchez is going to Old Trafford so I guess the worry might be what effect the Chilean will have on Lingard’s game time with the trade-off being that Sanchez may bring even more out of the young Englishman.

GW23 Joker – Richarlison

2 points – Another blank for the Brazilian as his (and his club’s) struggles continue. Starting to drop in value as he accumulates sales out, he will have to start backing up his good attacking stats with points or he’ll be on the out list for many managers.

Gameweek 24 picks

Banker – Sergio Aguero (MCI £11.7m) NEW

Salah and Kane look like great captain options this week, so to put the cat among the pigeons – here’s another! Kun has a great record against The Magpies (who can forget his 5 goal haul a couple of seasons back?) and City will be smarting after their first defeat of the season at Anfield last week. With Jesus still a few weeks away from fitness, he looks to nailed on at centre-forward and with West Brom up in GW25 the Argentine is primed for a good run of points.

Ace – Heung-Min Son (TOT £8.2m) sou

The Korean is in fantastic form at the moment, bagging another goal and an assist against Everton last week. He’s still a relative differential at 14.5% ownership though the trade-off is the GW25-27 run against United, Liverpool and Arsenal now. For now though, he should make hay against a struggling Saints side this week.

Joker – Theo Walcott (EVE £7.1) WBA

Everton’s new signing starts with a plum fixture at home to relegation strugglers West Brom. Walcott boasts a lot of FPL potential and will bolster a Toffees midfield already packed with international talent. I guess some questions remain as to how he’ll fit into Big Sam’s style of football, but if he hits the ground running he could easily rack up a steady stream of points before the season ends.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
