FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW24 REVIEW – PART 1

MAN CITY 2 SWANSEA 1

Here’s the pass and position map for Man City from the excellent site 11tegen11

Jesus

2 goals.  90 mins. CF In the right place at the right time for the 2 goals.  Good assist threat too

De Bruyne

Blanked.  77 mins.  RM.  Took most indirect set pieces.  Good goal threat although assist threat could have been better

Sterling

1 assist  82 mins. RAM.  Good threat and involved in alot of the chances even if the assist which was basically a miscontrol.  However at least it happened in the 6 yard box which was good to see.  Still an assist threat rather than goal threat.

Sigurdsson

1 goal.  90 mins.  LAM.  Dominant with set pieces and 1 very close direct free kick.  Generally though wasn’t much of a threat despite this and the goal

Llorente

Blanked.  82 mins. CF.   Did absolutely nothing

Defences

Swansea were under siege in the first half and Man City were barely troubled.  However this changed in the 2nd half

LEICESTER CITY 0 MAN UTD 3

Here’s the Man Utd pass and position map

Ibrahimovic

1 goal.  CF.  90 mins.  Did score but a quieter than normal goal threat. Always and assist threat though

Mkhitaryan

1 goal.  1 assist. CAM.  90 mins.  Was absolutely fantastic finding space everywhere.  Goal showed his finishing and pace.   Assist was an excellent 1-2.  He was strong goal and assist threat throughout.  Should have had another assist when set up Rashford from the right.

Pogba

Blanked.  CM.  90 mins.  Very little threat apart from again setting up Rashford for a well saved shot.  Too deep

Defences

A poor defensive performance from Leicester with Man Utd having a number of chances.  Leicester also had some too.

CHELSEA 3 ARSENAL 1

Chelsea pass and position map:

Costa

2 assists.  90 Minutes.  CF.  Strong goal threat despite not scoring.  First assist was a header that came off the post and 2nd was an assist to Hazard with a header at the half way line.

Hazard

1 goal.  83 mins  SS.  Posed some threat.  Again not a huge amount of chances to score or assist.  Goal was either a fantastic solo effort or a defensive disaster depending on your perspective.

Giroud

1 goal.  26 mins.  CF.  Short time as sub and scored

Sanchez

Blanked.  90 mins.  CF.  Back in the striker position but did absolutely nothing

Ozil

Blanked.  90 mins.  CAM.  Indirect set piece responsibility.  Not much of a threat goal or assist threat except for 1 shot tamely at the GK

Defence

Both sides gave chances away.  More from Arsenal though and the Hazard goal was a defensive joke.

HULL 2 LIVERPOOL 0

Here’s the Liverpool pass and position map

Firmino

Blanked.  90 mins.  CF.  Didn’t really have any clear cut chances.  1 shot blocked by Robertsons hand should have given an assist via a penalty

Coutinho

Blanked. 56 mins. LAM.  Had indirect set pieces.  Should have scored 2.  Great chance early on with a Jakupovic “punch” but he scuffed it and then another golden opportunity from a corner.  Both just outside the 6 yard box showed he was getting forward.

Lallana

Blanked. 90 mins.  CAM.  1 good cross for Mane but apart from that did very little

Mane

Blanked.  90 mins. RAM.  His running in behind helps Liverpool but little in the way of direct goal or assist threat.

Defences

Hull were under alot of pressure but numbers, Jakupovic and luck gave them a clean sheet.  Errors continue to cost Liverpools defence even though they gave away little in the way of opportunities.  The first goal was a joke with an error allowing Hull to get the corner.  The goal then came from a failed clearance.  The 2nd goal was a breakaway after a long ball over the top and was mind boggling.

CRYSTAL PALACE 0 SUNDERLAND 4

Benteke

Blanked.  90 mins.  CF.  Had a lot of chances including 1 really good chance on the turn close in where he really should have scored.

Defoe

2 goals.   90 mins.  CF.  The guy can finish.  Doesn’t need many chances and would have had less then half the opportunities Benteke did.  Took both ruthlessly.

Zaha

Blanked.  90 mins LAM.  A couple of highlights and generally the best of the Palace midfield threat wise.

Defences

Palace couldn’t handle Defoe and the GK was poor which also didn’t help but chance wise conceded it wasn’t too bad.  Sunderland had luck on their side despite conceding a bundle of chances.
