fantasy premier league GW24 wildcard tips – the FFG imaginary wildcard plus guest teams from Alex Ball and Rob Reid

Fantasy Premier League, imaginary wildcard

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW24 wildcard tips article where we pretend we are using our wildcard. It gives player suggestions with more longevity than just for the up coming gameweek.  This week we’ve got guest teams from regular contributors Alex Ball and  Rob Reid

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW24 WILDCARD TIPS – THE FFG IMAGINARY WILDCARD PLUS GUEST TEAMS FROM ALEX BALL AND ROB REID

This article brings alot of others together to give you an easy format for player suggestions with more longevity than the next gameweek.  Below Rob and Alex have provided their own imaginary wildcard teams.  I haven’t seen them in advance to avoid any influencing of me

Firstly I would say that I wouldn’t wildcard now. I would use my wildcard to maximise the points potential in the double gameweeks coming up. See my original article article on potential blank and double gameweeks

This is a short article where I’m pretending I’m using my wildcard to give you player picks with more longevity than the next game. It’s short as there are no stats. I’ve given links to articles below with all the detailed stats you’ll need if you want to investigate a player in more detail.

In this article there’s some brief narrative on the selection below. There’s stats in the player ranking articles which can be found here using the links below

There’s also our fixture ease article which gives player suggestions with good fixtures.   You can also see who the popular transfers are in our bandwagons article and who the top 10 FPL managers I follow have in their team

FFGEEK’S IMAGINARY WC TEAM

The team is £0.9m outside my £104.1m budget.

Structure

I’ve recently tried to be quite flexible on structure but this team has turned out to be a fairly rigid 3-4-3 partly due to Aguero who’s a bit of a funds buster.

GKs

I’ve gone for Pickford as my lead GK as I think he has alot of save and bonus potential and he can also be moved to Heaton when he’s fit if desired.  Hennessey was just the cheapest playing keeper with some seemingly gametime security

Defenders

I’ve gone for 3 core premium defenders in Alonso, Stones and Jones.  I chose Alonso over Christensen for less rotation risk and as a neutraliser  if he keeps on scoring.

Bardsley is a bit of a longevity gamble for the Burnley defence but worth the punt for price.  Hegazi is an injury doubt but is the cheapest representative of the WBA defence which looks good home and away.  That maybe affected if Evans leaves though.

Midfield

I think Salah and Sterling should require no explanation.  I’ve kept faith with Lingard despite the poor Stoke game and some potential Sanchez risk due to his great underlying stats and the price.

Arnautovic has form and fixtures at the moment plus a strikers role.

T Carroll is a cheap bench sitter.  I was toying with Stephen Ireland at £4.5m who was impressive without scoring on Monday.  Stoke have some great fixtures but decided it was a bit risky given the new manager and their past history

Forwards

Kane should need no explanation.

Wilson overall I think is the best of the cheapies at the moment taking into account returns, form, fixtures and underlying stats.

I’ve gone for Aguero over Firmino as if I was wildcarding I would find it difficult to resit the temptation given the immediate fixtures

Rob Reid’s imaginary wildcard team

fanatsy premier league GW24 WILDCARD tips

Here’s an imaginary Wildcard team if I was going to it this week.

Rotating cheap goalkeepers to start, taking advantage of nice fixtures. 3 premium defenders. Alonso for his attacking returns and Otamendi/Jones covering high ownership here.

Salah and Sterling the high ownership midfield options. Arnautovic is in great form at present almost playing as a striker. 2 cheaper premium options in Lingard and Ox.

Forwards – Kane is no-brainer. Aguero gets the nod initially for me though I’d be tempted to swap him to Firmino once Jesus is fit and rotation a factor, this would free up funds so Lingard could be upgraded to Son in GW28.

Cheapie Niasse is the 3rd striker – he’s a transfer target for Brighton, West Brom and Palace; if he goes then he could become an intriguing regular. There’s not really any game time security at this price, Crouch is probably the closest to this.

Alex Ball’s imaginary wildcard team

fantasy premier league gw24 wildcard tips

I’ve gone with a 3-5-2 formation for my wildcard team.

The defence consists of double City cover in Ederson and Danilo for their excellent 2 home fixtures. Danilo is a rotation risk but seems cemented whilst Delph is injured. Man City have 11 clean sheets so far this season (only Man U with 13 and Chelsea with 12 have more) so a home double up against goal shy Newcastle and West Brom over the next 2 weeks seems a good option. Having Man U and Chelsea defence cover is also prudent. I’ve gone for the budget friendly Shaw (risky as Young could be back) at £4.9mil and the attack minded Alonso of Chelsea. Chilwell at £4.3 is a great option for the bench with Leicester only playing three of the big 6 between now and the end of the season! Edwards is £4.0 bench fodder.

The midfield. This is rather template. Sterling and Salah are self explanatory. Sons stats are outstanding. Up against a poor Southampton he seems a good option. The caveat being his poor away form; only 1 goal away from Wembley this season! Arnie is playing up front for an attack minded west Ham with excellent fixtures. Mahrez is averaging 5.6 PPG and sits behind only Salah, Sterling and KDB in the midfield standings with the aforementioned excellent fixtures.

The forwards are again rather template. Covering Kane is a must have this week and a major captain option. Firmino is the form player at present and has 5 goals an 3 assists over his last 6 games to sit second to Kane in the forward listings. Quaner is a £4.6 filler.

I hope this helps your transfers this week.
