The Bandwagons

Defoe

3 games 2 goals and 1 assist plus a proven premier league goal scoring record and facing the worst away defence in the league.  Plus pretty good fixtures after that.  A winning combination.  It definitely is.  The only issue is do you dare break up the Aguero/Giroud/Kane front line.  Aguero despite his issues at the moment needs no intro, Giroud is home to Leicester and Kane can score against anyone.  Thats even before you talk about the high level of ownership of all the 3.

Next 6 fixtures:

QPR (H)
West Brom (H)
Man Utd (A)
Hull (A)
Aston Villa (H)
West Ham (A)

Kane

5 goals in his last 4 games is no flash in the pan.  It’s no flash in the pan either that he’s returned a goal or assist in 63% of the games he’s played in.  He may have a tough fixture but as Chelsea and Arsenal found out he can score against anyone.  He’s got a blank in GW27 but a DGW28.

Liverpool (A
West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)

Ings

A goal and an assist against WBA culminating in an 11 point FPL haul continued his good form which has seen 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 6. Unfortunately 4 games were against Newcastle, QPR, Palace and WBA.  The fixtures coming up are quite different

Man Utd (A)
Chelsea (A)
Swansea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man City (H)
Southampton (A)

Cazorla

Interesting one this.  There’s no doubting his form before his 2 point haul against Spurs in GW24.  2 goals and 3 assists in 2 games before that, plus pens is not to be sniffed at.  His overall consistency for the season is poor.  However his first 11 games were blanks.  Since then it’s been a healthy 58%.  Such has been the bandwagon that among leading managers he’s become almost a defensive play with increasing ownership.  In fact you could make a case that he’s more dangerous not to own than Sanchez from that perspective alone.  However if your choice is between Sanchez and Cazorla then maybe you need to think first. Sanchez could start against Leicester (you will be able to see the team sheet before the transfer deadline for GW25 closes) and he unquestionably has the best stats of any midfielder with only Hazard coming close.  Even worse, Sanchez’s form at home against poor sides has been phenomenal.  Now you could argue that things will change for Sanchez with everyone back from injury but that’s also the case for Cazorla.  If I had the choice I would be going for Sanchez over Cazorla.  If it’s a standalone choice for Cazorla then fine,  he’s playing Leicester next, is in good form, has good fixtures and pens.  The one question on him is that he did play in a reasonably deep position against Spurs which was a tad disturbing.

Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)

Giroud

I guess some of the above applies also to Giroud if you’re choosing him over Sanchez.  2 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 and returning in 3 of those 4 is excellent form.  He’s also got a good consistency record of 54% of games acheiving a goal or assist.  Also great underlying stats showing it’s alos no fluke.  Thats before you even discuss the quality midfield behind him to create chances.

Leicester (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)
QPR (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)

The sinking ships

Austin

Out against Sunderland for at least 1 game.  1 assist in his last 3 and 1 goal in his last 6 hasn’t exactly helped.  Strangely his shooting stats aren’t that bad over the last 4 games.  Fixtures could be worse and although a blank in GW27 he will have  a DGW28.  Although that is against Arsenal and Spurs.

Sunderland (A)
Hull (A)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28Arsenal (H)
GW28 Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Everton (H)

Bertrand

Suspended for 2 more games with a ready made replacement in Clyne who highlighted this with an 8 point performance against QPR in GW24.  Only Chelsea can rival them defensively and the fixtures are good.  The 2 fixtures he will miss are West Ham H and Liverpool H.  Not easy but their home defensive form is excellent especially with Wanyama and Schneiderlin back

West Ham (H)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Chelsea (A)
Burnley (H)

Fabregas

Despite being declared fit (although admittedly Mourinho’s mumbling surly press conference was a little difficult to understand) he didn’t turn up against Villa which was a little strange.  A doubt now and you have to question whether he’s behind Oscar and Hazard in the FPL figuring anyway.  A very consistent returner but tends to play too deep to score and relys on assists especially from set pieces.  Good next 2 fixtures, then a blank GW27 and a DGW at some stage, possibly GW28 if Aston Villa beat Leicester in GW28.

Everton (H)
Burnley (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
West Ham (A)
Southampton (H)
Hull (A)

Chadli

After his sensational 1 goal and 2 assist performance against Chelsea in GW20 it’s hard to believe that it’s come to 2 sub appearances in the last 2 games and only 1 assist in 4 games since that stunning performance.  Is the current sub appearances due to the time off he had after his father passed away and therefore the need to build up match fitness?  Or is it something more permanent with Lamela being the favoured flank player to partner Eriksen.  It’s difficult to say but for those still cogitating you will see the Spurs team sheet before the GW25 transfer deadline passes to help you.  Blank in GW27 but DGW28.

Liverpool (A)
West Ham (H)
– Gameweek 27 –
GW28 Swansea (H)
GW28 QPR (A)
29 Man Utd (A)
30 Leicester (H)

Siggy

A little strange if you’ve held onto him for 2 games of his 3 game suspension to sell him now.  Has blanked for 3 consecutive games prior to the ban.  Also has lost Bony who if you’re an assist based player is a big loss.  Fixtures are a bit mixed and no significant underlying stats it’s all about his set pieces and CAM positioning.

West Brom (A)
Man Utd (H)
Burnley (A)
Spurs (A)
Liverpool (H)
Aston Villa (A)
