FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW25 PLAYER PICKS BY ROB REID (THE FPL VET)

Hi and welcome to Gameweek 25 Player Picks. For each gameweek, I’ll be picking out 3 players in distinct player selection categories.

One Banker – this will take form and the fixture ease schedule into account and is a player who I think is a must for the next few gameweeks and should provide a steady stream of points.

One Ace – a player who I think has a good chance of scoring big this week. I’ll take form, this weeks fixtures and the bookies odds into account here.

One Joker – a player who is a bit of punt but I think may surprise a few people. Might be a low ownership player, someone coming back from injury or just a bit of a gut feeling on my part – there will be no evidence base on this one!

I’ll keep a tally each week of how things are going – I’ll analyse the Banker over 4 GWs, the other 2 will just be on a weekly basis. I’m following up my GW21 picks as well after my shortened GW22 article. Wish me luck and here goes!

Gameweek 24 Review

GW21 Banker – Marcos Alonso

GW21 – 6 points (clean sheet)

GW22 – 7 points (1 goal, 2 goals conceded)

GW23 – 8 points (clean sheet, 2 bonus points)

GW24 – 6 points (clean sheet) – a clean sweep of returns for his Banker stint, the wing-back come attacking midfielder is now a shoe-in for many line-ups.

GW22 Banker – Harry Kane

GW22 – 3 points

GW23 – 13 points (2 goals, 3 bonus points)

GW24 – 8 points (1 goal, 2 bonus points) – Another strikers goal for the league’s leading scorer. 3 tricky fixtures on the horizon starting with United at home. It would be a brave manager who opts for #Kanexit2 though, he can score against anyone.

GW23 Banker – Matthew Ryan

GW23 – 1 point (2 goals conceded)

GW24 – 0 points (4 goals conceded) – Chelsea found their goal touch, smashing The Seagulls 4-0 in the end. Better fixtures await though for the Australian with a better chance of clean sheets on the way.

GW24 Banker – Sergio Aguero

GW24 – 17 points (3 goals, 3 bonus points) – His Banker stint starts with a boom, delighting the 23% of managers who owned him last week. WBA at home next and City look primed to continue their attacking prowess with Kun at the fore. Expect more fireworks!

GW24 Ace – Heung-Min Son

-2 points. A disappointing display, the South Korean looking somewhat cumbersome compared with some of his high energy displays from previous weeks. The fixtures get tougher now so might be a good time to sell for 3 weeks at least.

GW23 Joker – Theo Walcott

5 points. An assist on debut for Everton has once again alerted managers to his potential. An upturn in Everton’s form could very well see him become a favourite pick again, especially with the injury to current mid-price favourite Marco Arnautovic.

Gameweek 25 Picks

Banker – Riyad Mahrez (LEI £8.7m) – eve

The Algerian has quietly gone about his business this season and is currently the 4th highest scoring midfielder in the game, behind Sterling, De Bruyne and the outstanding Salah. Fine company indeed. The Foxes have a great run-in now, only 3 of the top 6 to play before the end of the season. It’s a great time to invest in Leicester therefore and for me, Mahrez is the pick of the bunch.

Ace – Mo Salah (LIV £10.2) – hud

The unthinkable happened last week and he blanked against Swansea! Surely this can’t happen 2 weeks in a row and an away fixture at Huddersfield looks a good bet for a return, with the Egyptian likely to be heavily captained this week as well,

Joker – Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (STO £5.4) – WAT

Stoke got off to a flyer under Paul Lambert last week and have a nice fixture this week against a struggling Watford team under new management. EMCM picked up an assist last week, his first return since GW19 and is a handy pick in the budget price range. If you own Arnie and are looking to free up some funds to strengthen elsewhere, selling for EMCM could give you that extra £1.5m you need.

That’s it from me on Player Picks. Good luck this week everyone!
