FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW26 – THE BANDWAGONS AND SINKING SHIPS

bandwagons and sinking ships, Fantasy Premier League

Here’s our fantasy premier league GW26 article where we outline and give a view on the most transferred in players so far in the gameweek (the bandwagons) and the most transferred out (the sinking ships). There’s a table of stats on each as well as some narrative on their prospects and their next fixtures

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE GW26 – THE BANDWAGONS AND SINKING SHIPS

BACKGROUND

Here’s just an introduction on the blank gameweeks to come

Postponed in GW26

Southampton v Arsenal
Man City v Man Utd

These are related to the clubs that are in the EFL final that weekend.

Those certain of fixtures in GW28 (FA Cup 6th round (qtr finals) week)

Bournemouth v West Ham
Everton v WBA
Hull v Swansea

These are the fixtures where both clubs are out of the FA Cup and therefore their fixtures should stand in GW28 while others could potentially be postponed depending on the 5th round FA Cup results this weekend

THE BANDWAGONS

These are the 5 most transferred in players so far in the gameweek. No Fixt ease in this schedule as the 5th round FA Cup will alter it massively.  The fixtures will be outlined though in the individual player narrative.

MANE

Liverpool are out of the FA Cup.  Liverpool’s home fixture to Burnley in GW28 depends on Burnley losing to Lincoln City in the FA Cup which is very unlikely.  Lincoln £7.50 to win

Hard to describe how good the Liverpool RAM was for his 2 goals against Spurs.  He adds so much to the Liverpool team as his pace doesn’t allow teams to squeeze Liverpool in midfield.  Also the return of the optimum pressing front 3 of Coutinho, Firmino and Mane will give Liverpool the best chance to return to the form of earlier in the season.  His underlying stats could be worse.  The potential blank in GW28 is an issue depending on your team structure but Leicester next is a good entry point

Next 6 fixtures:

Leicester (A)
Arsenal (H)
Burnley (H) – Possible blank
Man City (A)
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)

GABBIADINI

Southampton are out of the FA Cup.  Southampton’s GW28 fixture home to Man Utd will only stand if Man Utd lose to Blackburn.  Blackburn are £7.00 to win

The new Striker signing has scored 3 goals and 20 FPL points in 2 games all of which were backed up by the underlying shooting stats as being no fluke.  However this is hard to understand.  Southampton have no fixture in the upcoming gameweek and are likely to have a blank in GW28

Blank GW 26
Watford (A)
Man Utd (H) – Potential Blank
Spurs (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Crystal Palace (H)

LUKAKU

Everton are out of the FA Cup and have a guaranteed game in GW28

Has to be considered an injury doubt with a calf injury which has seen him miss the Everton training camp.  However the club have said they expect him to be fit for GW26. He’s also likely to be a big captain favourite going into this gameweek with a home game to Sunderland.  Needs to be monitored.

Sunderland (H)
Spurs (A)
West Brom (H)
Hull (H)
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)

COSTA

Chelsea face Wolves away in the FA Cup 5th round. I would back them to win and then have a blank GW28.  Wolves are £7.50 to win

Any game against Swansea is going to draw a crowd of FPL managers and the potential blank in GW28 isn’t putting anyone off.  Costa is Mr consistency this season and he just keeps returning.  So far he’s returned a goal or assist in 17/22 matches.  The underlying shooting stats back this up as being no fluke

Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)
Watford (H) – Potential blank
Stoke (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (H)

HAZARD

Chelsea face Wolves away in the FA Cup 5th round. I would back them to win and then have a blank GW28.  Wolves are £7.50 to win

An interesting one this.  He has the advanced position, has pens, has the next fixture in Swansea and in the last 2 games he’s played really well.  Looking at the negatives.  Is 1 goal and 3 assists in his last 7 Bandwagon material.  Also the underlying shooting and stats whether on a season or recent matches basis are pretty ordinary to say the least

Swansea (H)
West Ham (A)
Watford (H) – Potential blank
Stoke (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Man City (H)

THE SINKING SHIPS

These are the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  No Fixt ease in this schedule as the 5th round FA Cup will alter it massively.  The fixtures will be outlined though in the individual player narrative.

GABRIEL JESUS

Man City have a blank in GW26 and will have a blank in GW28 if they win their 5th round FA Cup fixture away to Huddersfield.  Huddersfield are £6.50 to win

3 goals and an assist in pretty much 2 games is a pretty impressive start even if it was against West Ham and Swansea.  However the broken metatarsal will see him potentially out for the season.  Aguero is likely to be the beneficiary with maybe Iheanacho in the FA Cup.

Blank GW26
Sunderland (A)
Stoke (H) – Potential blank
Liverpool (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (A)

IBRAHIMOVIC

Manchester United have a blank in GW26 and you’d have to back them to best Blackburn away in the FA Cup to give them a blank in GW28.  Blackburn are £7.00 to win

The 3rd gameweek in a row he’s been in the sinking ships.  The blank gameweek 26 is always going to be a trigger.  Value is probably not a reason to hold as his price will probably drop anyway.  It’s probably more about the rest of your team and what that needs if you want to use another transfer to buy him back.  It should also be about the Bournemouth fixture in GW27

Blank GW26
Bournemouth (H)
Southampton (A) – Potential blank
Middlesbrough (A)
West Brom (H)
Everton (H)

SANCHEZ

Arsenal have a blank in GW26. They will have a blank in GW28 if they best Sutton in the FA Cup. Sutton are £13.00 to win the game

It’s fairly rare that someone with 2 goals in the last game will be in the sinking ships category so this again is about the bye in GW26. They are also likely to have a blank in GW28. He’s the midfielder who has it all though.  Currently playing as a striker, has pens (if the Bayern miss hasn’t changed that), great form, season returns and consistency.  The underlying shooting stats are one of the best of any of the midfielders as well.  The fixture in between at GW27 though in between the blanks is one of the harder fixtures

Blank GW26
Liverpool (A)
Leicester (H) – Potential blank
West Brom (A)
Man City (H)
West Ham (H)

ALLI

If Spurs win their FA Cup 5th round game against Fulham away then they will have a bye in GW28.  One of the more losable games for the premier league teams.  Fulham are £4.00 to win

Blanked in the last 3 games.  Hasn’t really got much in the way of underlying stats either too.  Watching the games,  it seems that Son has possibly pushed Alli back somewhat from being a support striker.  On the positives his consistency this season though has been good with a goal or assist in 12/24 games.  He still plays in an advanced position even if not quite as far forward.  They are also one of the teams more likely to not have a blank in GW28 and if they don’t Palace away is a good fixture.

Stoke (H)
Everton (H)
Crystal Palace (A) – potential blank
Southampton (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (A)

PHILLIPS

WBA have a guaranteed fixture in GW28

Anytime you blank in the last 5 games you’re going to get sold.  No underlying stats either to give you hope.  I’m impressed that the rest of the FPL team thats selling  must be so well set up for GW26 and the potential GW28 that you can afford to do this.  At home to Bournemouth next as well is probably the last fixture I would transfer someone out for

Bournemouth (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Everton (A)
Arsenal (H)
Man Utd (A)
Watford (A)
